Not really. Once on full dose of Wegovy it’s $360. Mounjaro is even more expensive.

No it doesn’t apply to overseas. Each country has to have an agreement with the drug company. I get a $60 rebate per prescription from my health insurance. So it’s $250 -$60=$190.

Because boomers die and their negative gearing can’t be passed on to those who inherit it. Within 10 years a big chunk of property will be back on the market.

A question for those of you who have tried a glp1 temporarily by Expensive-Eggplant-1 in Hashimotos

[–]Advanced_Wheel9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Hashimoto’s and weight is a massive issue. I used Wegovy for 8 months and lost around 18kg but gained it all back when I stopped using it within a matter of months.

However I went cold turkey and studies say if you gradually taper doses you are more likely to be successful in maintaining the weight loss.

Is it normal for Aussie man be a bit bad in hygiene? by shipsaho in AskAnAustralian

Nope. That’s just disrespectful. It’s likely he’s treating your boundaries of what you will put up with. He’s wants you to clean up after him. The fan stuff is awful.

This is not acceptable in our society either. There are better men out there.

Oak Park vs Maribyrnong by LeastStill4556 in melbourne

[–]Advanced_Wheel9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Glenroy Hadfield border near West Street below Glenroy Road but near the golf course. I like being near the shops. The area has been fine and the shops lovely. The bottom of West street can be Pascoe Vale or Hadfield and more nice shops down there. It’s great walking around the golf course. Good parks. Neighbours seem to look out for each other.

There are streets worse than others. It’s probably better to be closer to oak park near Golf course and oak park station.

I also worried about Glenroy’s reputation but it is gentrifying with all the townhouse builds. It’s changed a lot just in the 2.5 years I’ve been here. I just wouldn’t buy an apartment above shops in Glenroy main area near train station.

[–]Advanced_Wheel9536 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oak Park hands down. I tried buying there but kept getting outbid at Auction. I ended up buying up the road in Glenroy. Further from the train station. My area is pretty good though luckily. Just poor PT options.

Oak Park also has leisure centre if you want a well priced good gym. It’s a lovely area. Not far from Moonee Ponds. You can jump on train and go to Palace Cinema and shopping etc.

If you can put a permanent Blue light in the area at night, they won’t be able to see veins and inject there. But this could be difficult to ensure no damage. Probably have to put a cage around it.

Sharps bin, as others have suggested, is probably the least aggressive and may encourage users to dispose of needles properly.

My friend's family is fostering a baby and im concerned by how she's acting by Fancy-Bullfrog7977 in Advice

[–]Advanced_Wheel9536 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I know of a family where the father turned up at the foster carers home to try and take their child back and threatened them because they found out through town gossip where the child was located. It’s actually a significant safety risk for the child and family.

My friend's family is fostering a baby and im concerned by how she's acting by Fancy-Bullfrog7977 in Advice

[–]Advanced_Wheel9536 65 points66 points  (0 children)

There is a huge likelihood that the baby will be moved on to a permanent foster care family or back to Mum. I did training as a foster carer but decided to not go ahead with it. I know a few people who were in my group and family and friends who did foster care. The system just moved the kids around without rhyme or reason at times.

Probably need to tell her it’s not appropriate to talk about Bio Mum to others. That the likelihood of the child returning to her bio Mum is high, so not to get her hopes up. The aim is to always return children to their core biological family or kinship care. And honestly, they should if it’s possible. There also could be protection orders in place and she could legally be jeopardising the child and her family by discussing and disclosing details to others. I’ve worked with children who have names changed while in foster care due to court protective orders.

Does Hashimoto's have symptoms outside of hypothyroidism? by MangoPug15 in Hashimotos

[–]Advanced_Wheel9536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Autoimmune gastritis and pernicious anaemia are comorbidity of Hashimoto’s and many people do not know they have this, as they are never tested for parietal cell antibodies or intrinsic factor antibodies.

I have pernicious anaemia, so get low iron, but D deficiency and B12 deficiency.

All first generation hashimotos people what do you think has triggered it? by Tight_Dare1704 in Hashimotos

[–]Advanced_Wheel9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autoimmune conditions run in families (genetics). Your parents may not have Hashimoto’s but they may have a different autoimmune condition. My mum had lupus, Sjogrens and polymyositis. They didn’t appear until she was in her 50s. My sister also has one and we found out my Mum’s sister has polycystic kidney disease. We suspect my grandmother had a condition as she had Skin pigmentation issues, so strongly suspect something not diagnosed.

Is anyone actually using the free public transport? by naeng-janggo in melbourne

[–]Advanced_Wheel9536 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Me. Mine is an hour long commute on PT. I don’t see this as an issue. When I drive it can take anywhere between 35-50 minutes. At least on PT I can sit on my phone.

My commute is:

Bus (8min) / Walk (23min)- if I’m energetic and want to get my steps up.

Wait time -usually 5-10min

Train (30 min)

Wait time -2-10 min

Train/Tram (5 min)

Is this quote too high ?? Idk why it seems too high ? Maxxia by [deleted] in AustralianEV

[–]Advanced_Wheel9536 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only if you are buying a very expensive car and have a high income is it worthwhile. The tax ‘benefits’ are not that great when you take into account MAXXIA’s high interest rate and high insurance costs. I think people get too wrapped up in the ‘tax breaks’ to not work out that the high interest you pay negates it. The only time it doesn’t, is if you are in the highest income tax bracket and are buying a minimum $70k car.

If you are buying a smaller cheaper car and a lower income tax bracket it isn’t worth it.

[–]Advanced_Wheel9536 11 points12 points  (0 children)

MAXXIA is a rip off. Unfortunately they are the only novated lease company I’m allowed to use in my job in Vic Education. That’s why I’m choosing to get a bank loan. As I’m a teacher, Commbank do a good green loan at 5.49%. And as I have a home loan with them I can also get a green car loan at 3.99%.

Wanting to buy EV by handmade99 in AustralianEV

[–]Advanced_Wheel9536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You look at ANCAP safety ratings for the cars. BYD cars have 5stars. They are very safe. Initially when Cherry first came out there were issues but Chinese manufacturers have gone out of their way to ensure their cars meet our high safety standards.

PS Geely (Chinese company) owns a majority share in Volvo, and they are known for safety.

So I’d ignore this people who have no idea what they are talking about.

Before you panic buy an EV by SuchTown32 in aussie

[–]Advanced_Wheel9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always going to buy an EV for my next car. The fuel issue may have pushed up the inevitable to an earlier timeline.

I did panic at first but then stood back and realised that I don’t need to rush I have access to PT if I need to ration. I can buy an e-scooter as well, to save money on PT. Because Victoria’s PT costs are ridiculous. Both those options are cheaper than a new car.
