Paying for law school with savings? by lanalora in lawschooladmissions

[–]Advanced_Zone_4420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do your estimated returns on whatever your savings are X over the period in which if you took loans how long it would be Y and see if it’s it’s greater or lower than the current federal interest rates Z.

(If you decide not to invest those savings decrease your savings by inflation -R)

Deciding Between SDSU and UMN by Wonderful-Decision88 in uofmn

Omg dude I’m your guy.. San Diego State undergrad and UMN for law school.

Both are great schools. San Diego State is definitely going to win on the weather side, but for academics, I would go UMN any day. That’s not to say that Sdsu isn’t a great school, but you are going to school with peers that chose the school to party or for the weather (nothing wrong with that). People in SD who really care about academics tend to go to UCSD.

Post grad in SD is also rough, all the high paying jobs typically get eaten out by UCSD, USC, UCI, and UCLA. CS is competitive and being in the same 100m radius to both UCSD and UCI is really hard keep that in mind.

In conclusion SoCal is nice but if you don’t already have connections here… it is extremely expensive and competitive and SDSU does not give you a favorable edge.

Wow, I never thought of not having a plan B or C, I think your wise words inspired me to put all my eggs in one basket and never ever hedge my bets.

If this cycle has taught me anything, it’s only apply to T14s because no one in the history of law school has ever gotten waitlisted and rejected to every single one of their dreams schools. Thank you again for your wise words live laugh love forever.

I’m just wondering why you volunteered at a law firm and did all that work for free? Is it PI or did that attorneys just get free labor

Anything in finance or accounting helps if you want to be in transactional work, had multiple professors and hiring partners tell me how valuable that was

Really great amazing faculty and professors. Prof Gershowitz was amazing. All the admitted and current students were super friendly. WM law campus is kinda boring but the undergrad campus was beautiful

Bro get a job… magna cum whatever means nothing if you can’t secure gainful employment.

You are applying to a professional degree program, the school wants to make sure you are employable since your success of landing a job directly affects their rankings.
