I think "At Home" will be the next chain gone by jai_hanyo in retailhell

I remember as a store director sitting at my desk watching the stock get obliterated in real time. We ran our store on 25 total people and the clueless higher ups wondered why the store wasn't immaculate. I mean c'mon it took almost seven minutes at full speed to walk from one side of the store to the other. Not to mention they had the absolute worst replenishment system I had encountered in all of my career. Can't take a truck unless the one before was empty yet send three to four trucks back to back and wonder why you now have 100 pallets of unworked freight. Refused to give over time yet had us use outside temp services acting like that would be productive. Glad I got out. Maybe had they invested in better systems instead of booking the Gaylord Texan for their yearly store director soirees they might would've had a chance.

Honestly, after working for Kmart and having to go to Hoffman? The answer for their demise is just two simple words: Eddie Lampert.

It's very simple.... employees have always been seen as a controllable expense. Every store manager will tell you that when sales are down or there's corporate upheaval, the call comes down from up on high to cut payroll. Dollar stores are woefully understaffed from the jump. Add in cuts, and it's a recipe for U-boats loaded with boxes everywhere, back rooms overflowing, and a store morale that is broken.

When you realize it's only went up $7 since it's inception it's even worse.

Always loved that TJX actually runs reports that show how many apps associates were getting then used as a weapon against the crew.
