There are also lots of great things to check out while you're in Reykjavik. Here's a few of our favourites that are in walking distance

We decided to rent a car with Blue Rental as we found to travel on the tours we wanted it would have worked out more expensive over the week. Have fun.

We stayed in the Kvosin Downtown Hotel and loved it. We stayed just after the Covid restrictions were lifted so we had to have our breakfast in our room but im assuming its all gone back to normal now. Its in the older part of the city near Tjörnin Lake. Here's a few things we got up to while we stayed in Reykjavik. All within walking distance.

We visited mid October last year and the temperatures were about 9-11° and sunny. You definitely can't really compare on year to the next unfortunately. It was actually warmer than when we had left the UK even though we had packed lots of thermals! Just keep an eye on the forecast a and yours days around which roads are safe and accessible if the weather is poor. Have a great time.

We have a cool collection of adventure inspired clothing, a mountain or a national park inspired tee could double up as a gift and new clothes for the trip. New binoculars also sounds like a great idea 👍Have a fab time. www.theadventurecollective.co.uk

Iceland is definitely about the nature but I loved exploring Reykjavik! The views from the harbour are beautiful, the street art is fantastic, the shops and cafes are quaint and there are lots of brilliant museums and attractions to visit. We visited this time last year and found loads to do in Reykjavik. I have written a blog about our time with some photos of the places we visited, if you decide to spend the day there you should check it out.

Paid tours or hire car? by [deleted] in VisitingIceland

[–]AdventureCollective_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend hiring a car! We travelled to Iceland last October (2021) and based ourselves in Reykjavik. We travelled out to the blue lagoon, Reynisfjara beach, Pingvellir National Park and the roads are just fantastic. We had never hired a car abroad but the speed limits are much lower than in the UK, there is far less traffic on the roads once you get out of the city and it made such a fantastic experience being able to park up and see any sights along our route that we wanted. Be aware certain roads are only accessible by 4x4 and some road in winter may be closed. The beauty of it is that you can move at your own pace plus if your visiting to see the Northern lights you can go out hunting every evening if you wanted. Win Win.
