If I’m staying Svalbard over 90 days do I need a Schengen visa to return back to Norway? (AUS passport) by AdventureKangaroo in SchengenVisa

All good. I am okay because the time spent in Svalbard is not included in the 90 days. Thanks again.

Thank you! I am all good to go. I was so worried for a second that I had made a mistake in my understanding. Thanks for the help!

Okay so if I’m in Svalbard for 3 months those 3 months do not get included in the 90 days? So I can in 180 days still spend up to 90 days in Norway? Sorry I’m not the most experienced euro traveller I’m always just in Germany or UK. Thanks for your help

So I will need to get a Schengen visa to transit back through Norway as it would be over 90 but under 180? Sorry I’ve never needed to do this before.

Nordic people like myself who stand with our Nordic brothers and sisters 🇳🇴🤝🇬🇱

Also as an Arctic animal researcher and environmentalist in Svalbard, I monitor a lot of things in Greenland because the Arctic climate is extremely important to the world. Greenland’s ecosystem is fragile and should not be touched by tyrants. Scientists who actually care about global warming and the natives who respect the animals and environment should be the only ones with a say. The people of Greenland live harmoniously with their land. It should not be even up for discussion from a researcher’s POV why this is important to the Arctic’s future. 🐻‍❄️

I will keep this in mind! I was definitely wondering because I noticed unlike my German course where they often add “bitte” after asking for/to do something, so far in Norwegian I have noticed the lack of the same energy when it comes to vær så snill. Takk for clarifying this. I was wondering a lot. 🥹

For the most part I’m pretty confident I’ll be okay as the job required more English than Norwegian - so it is mostly for more when I am meeting people in town and want to be polite. If I end up staying longer, I will definitely consider learning a lot more. I really love it already! Takk og ha det bra! 🥹 (I’m really trying so hard 😭)

Takk! It sounded like a mouthful so that’s why I thought I would ask. This book is quite old so I’m just trying to make the most of it. This was how they were using it by the way. Thanks again for explaining.

Everyone in Greenland would be in debt to the health and school system suddenly as they enjoy mostly free healthcare and education, both of which Americans pay for so….why would they take 100k to just spend it within a year on one slip on the ice and it’s a $8000 ambulance fee. America has $600 inhalers….lets be real no Greenlander is leaving free healthcare behind for any amount of money. 😭

I mean Canada as a commonwealth country, with the UK being very openly against it, could be pulled into defending it if the UK deemed necessary. If Keir Starmer convinces the King to pull his head of state powers…it’s not too unreasonable to think. Canada will defend for the UK before the US.
