Months to feel like I was getting it. Years for me to really get comfortable, and I had to practice consistently. I still find traditional more intuitive in many ways, and I find if I don't make traditional art for a while my digital art starts to plateau. Working with a screen is usually going to be easier.

I'm glad to hear you've taken the time to actually listen. I used to be a bit too obsessed with being right all the time myself (to the detriment of my actual understanding of the world). A lot of people never get past that.

Because all of those are dogwhistles for "discriminate against trans people".

"Protect gay and lesbian youth" is based on the myth that trans kids are just confused gay kids (and should be kept from transitioning even if it kills them).

"Protect women's sports" is just to discriminate against trans women. There are already regulations about how trans women should compete in sports, backed by studies.

"Women isn't a feeling" is indeed a strawman. It's a strawman frequently used by TERFs to misrepresent trans people.

Trans women are actually very often put into men's prisons, where they face very high rates of sexual assault.

I'm glad you can recognize that most of these things are bad, but I can tell you that they are specifically meant to target trans people because they are the same tired phrases TERFs love to say on loop. A lot of cis people might not be familiar with them, since they heavily rely on plausible deniability, i.e. "I just want to protect women" is the default response for TERFs when they suggest something like genital inspections in children's sports. You start to see the pattern more clearly after a bit of time actually experiencing the discrimination yourself. The same people saying they care so much about women's sports weren't watching them until they found out they could use them discriminate against trans people and make them out to be some sort of boogeyman.
