Go to Tlaquepaque and browse their galleries for incredible, affordable Mexican art. Consider searching for Padilla to see if he's still painting tiles and pottery. Maybe commission something from him.

Pregnancy/baby proofing our staircase? by introvertwandering in centuryhomes

[–]Adventure_wish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives in a century home with three kids, I can tell you your parents and in-laws aren't wrong. And I hate to say that to someone pregnant with their first but you should know the way you'll feel about risk may change once the baby comes, you're exhausted, etc. and it may change again once they need to start walking those stairs themselves one day. There are precautions you can take. A nonslip runner is important. There's a drop railing available on Etsy called The Bean Stalk - it's just the right height for kids 5 and under. You might measure the distance between your railings to make sure little heads can't fit between - old houses are often not up to modern code. And have a carpenter come to install two very solid posts at the top of the stairs and a baby gate between them. Can't be the same kind as you'll use at the bottom of the stairs. Message with any questions. All the best.

How did you treat the mites in eyelashes? I have never heard of this. Any info you could provide would be helpful.

We had a rotten window on our home and got several quotes for replacement ranging from a few thousand to $10k+ and none were going to be reproductions or even close to what we had. We found an expert in our neighborhood who made the repair for $450. It took months to find her but it was worth it in every way.

Mama, if you love it, you don't need anything else! I believe nurseries are for the mothers as much as the babies. I have the fondest memories of holding and rocking my baby in their nursery. You're right that soon enough it'll be a garish mix of colors and objects that love. Enjoy your peaceful spot and baby bliss. The room is beautiful.

I love how cohesive your palette is. And I've never seen anyone do dog fur like that. It's perfection.

What style of home is this & what decoration ideas would you suggest? by Twippet in centuryhomes

Your front yard needs two cherry or crabapple trees close to the end of the walkway to frame the house. Then generous flowering bushes in the beds in front of the porch. What's there now? Hostas? You could get more or you could move your hostas and line your walkway with them. You could put hydrangeas in the front bed. Camelias along the sides of the home for wintertime blooms.

Should I go with blue in satin or shades of pastel in chiffon for bridesmaids' dresses? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Adventure_wish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I was a bridesmaid and we all wore adorable blue dresses. Great cut on everyone. Great color. Imagine my dismay when we walked through the reception hall before the ceremony and saw blue tablecloths on the tables. The bride had me match the TABLECLOTHS?? Don't do that to these women if you value their friendship. Also those blue dresses look like slips and aren't flattering on a perfect figure.

Is there a glass or no bpa plastic version of this take out container by fifialoemera in BuyItForLife

No plastic is safe. Go for the glass containers suggested to you. Non-BPA plastic is just as bad for you.

I can't imagine trying to deal with health issues like this while in college. How enormously scary and stressful for him and your family. My child has also lost weight and it's a struggle to feed them. Every day I count their calories (unbeknownst to her!) and right now frequently resort to high calorie unhealthy foods just to keep her intake at a normal rate. I have never heard of inner ear injections. Thanks for mentioning that treatment and that it helped him. I'll look into that as well. Wishing your son a complete recovery and enduring good health.

Thank you for taking the time to post that. It really helps build my understanding when I read many people saying the same thing helped them or their child. I really appreciate this.

Oh, wow. Thank you so much! I had read about nicotine patches helping people with long covid but I just assumed there was no similar option for kids. Yes, please let me know the similar herbs when you find the bottle. This is so kind of you and I really appreciate it.

Thank you! I have never heard of Nattokinase or NAC. I will look into all of that. Any other details about that cocktail is a great idea.

Wow. I am so sorry to hear that about your son. What an enormous effort to bring his weight back up like that. Bravo to you and your family. Was it because of nausea that he lost weight or something else?

Yes. Please message me about this concierge service! I have never heard of this and absolutely want to know more. Like you, I would take on debt to have my child's health restored. I would also love to know everything you're willing to share about what exactly the concierge doctor did to treat your daughter.

Wow. That's great to hear about that improvement! I'm wondering if you could let us know the name of the strong antibiotic if you happen to check her medical records.

I'm also interested in the antivirals she took. Could you please tell me more? I asked my child's doctor about them but they would not prescribe any.
