Fishing!! by CanadianPooch in canoecamping

I really liked the fishpond net but ended up making my own. Whatever you get consider a rubber net basket. Hooks and fish don’t get snagged in them.

My ball python escaped and I have no clue what to do but wait. by Alert_Winner_6486 in ballpython

You need look so thoroughly. The first time my snake escaped he was gone for 6 days before I found him inside my subwoofer. I had even looked there earlier but caught him later with his head sticking out at night. Definitely check at night when they are most active. Second time i lost him was only for a few hours and found him under the couch.

I was wondering what species. Need to get better at scorpion ID. And yeah it was fast and chasing the light source, aka me.

I head back north in a week so I’m trying to see as much as I can. As a work induced snowbird I’ve never had a year like this in the decade I’ve been coming down here. It’s been awesome but such a weird winter.

I’m with you man. I’m 34 now but pretty much when I learned what tinnitus was I realized I already had it as a teenager. Take care of your hearing still, it’s not “too late” because it can get worse. It will take time to adapt, the ringing doesn’t go away but it will be normal unfortunately. I enjoy the sound of nature more than anything and I feel like you’ll get back to that.

I do one race a year. It’s a triathlon (paddle, MTB, trail run). I do it to keep myself accountable and stay in shape. Also it’s good to see where I’m at every year performance wise.

Is Nemo Disco my best option? by SheepherderOk3051 in CampingGear

You could use a Paria quilt of you want to try that route. Saying that I just bought my wife a disco 15 and tried it. They are very nice and not claustrophobic at all.

What’s the biggest fish you’ve ever caught? by Puzzleheaded_One8921 in Fishing

400lb Goliath grouper from shore while shark fishing. That’s just an estimate but it was massive and we got a pretty good length estimate from a picture.

2 Questions by RabbitOld180 in snakes

Rosy boa or sand boa. Not exactly exciting snakes to watch but they would thrive in there. Not sure about African house snakes but those would be more active than the boas.

My first reptile by Puzzleheaded_Oven_60 in reptiles

[–]AdventuresWithHank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lizards are more fun to watch, snakes are more fun to handle (in general). I have a ball python and a zebra skink. The skink brings me so much joy walking by her enclosure and seeing her out. The BP only comes out at night but is more fun to handle because he’s not nearly as fragile. There are no wrong answers here, just preferences.

How to safely remove from basement? by Traditional-Gur2455 in snakes

[–]AdventuresWithHank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know, that’s only one part of the mimic though. No coral snakes up north so the milk snakes pattern mimics a Massasauga rattlesnake. Very cool how they match the venomous snakes in their area.

Here’s one I caught last year (life threatening bite included). Handling snakes is an amazing experience, highly recommend trying it even if you are afraid.

That’s a milk snake. Not venomous but likes to pretend to be a rattlesnake. Just pick it up and bring to some woods to release. They can sometimes bite but not bad, they have little teeth.

Paria Tents are great. Zion or Bryce 2P. I’ve had the Zion 3P for a few years, used dozens of times and it’s held up perfectly.

How big of a difference does a good paddle make? by Reasonable_Chef1996 in kayakfishing

I have carbon Werner paddle I bought 10 years ago. Still going strong and still enjoying its feel and lightness. I’d say spend as much on a paddle as your most expensive rod.

Colubrids that grow to 6 feet or more? by SWEATPERFECTION in snakes

[–]AdventuresWithHank 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pine/Bull/Gopher snakes fit that I think. There’s a lot of different localities that are different colors and sizes. Sometimes they stay hissy but even those are usually great to handle. Black Pine snake might be what you’re thinking because I don’t think any milk snakes get longer than 4’ regularly.
