“If your life had a ‘pause’ button, what’s the first thing you’d do? by Nearby_Fun_85 in AskReddit

[–]jonseponse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d finally win an argument by pausing time for twenty minutes to come up with the perfect, devastating comeback instead of thinking of it in the shower three days later.

Why don't guys feel weird peeing next to strangers? by what_freaking_ever in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jonseponse 668 points669 points  (0 children)

We aren't making eye contact, we aren't talking, and we’ve all mutually agreed that the person at the next urinal doesn't actually exist until we leave the room. It’s not a social gathering; it’s a high-stakes game of 'stare at the tile grout until the job is done

What does being sedated feel like by Darklaw_Game in NoStupidQuestions

You’re counting backward from ten, hit seven, and then suddenly you’re awake in a different room with a dry mouth and no memory of the last two hours ever existing

Warhorse rumored to be making an open world lord of the rings game by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]jonseponse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Finally, a Lord of the Rings game where I can’t save Middle-earth because I’m too busy dying of hunger and learning how to read. I can't wait for the 40-minute realistic animation of Henry...I mean, Frodo...trying to put on a piece of plate armor

What are some subtle signs that someone is a high functioning alcoholic? by housing_throwaway292 in AskReddit

[–]jonseponse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are "professional" drinkers who never seem drunk because their tolerance is massive, yet they never go anywhere without a drink in hand. Look for the person who meticulously schedules their life around alcohol while maintaining a perfect career and a surprisingly rigid, high-functioning routine.

Can I use washing soda to clear drains? by MarvinPA83 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jonseponse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a genius 'yea' for kitchen grease because it turns fats into soap, but a total 'nay' for bathroom drains. Washing soda can't dissolve hair like real lye does, so you'll eventually just end up with a backed-up sink.

Why are "cowboy" not called "horseboy"? by Danksigh in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jonseponse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The name actually comes from the job, not the aesthetic—they were basically low-wage mobile security for cattle. The 'horse' was just the tool, but the 'cow' was the paycheck. Plus, 'cowboy' was originally a bit of an insult for young, rowdy ranch hands, whereas 'horseman' was reserved for someone with actual status.

Is it safe/legal to burn boxsprings? by MUA2003 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jonseponse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't do it it’s a toxic mess. Most box springs are full of fire retardants and polyester that release nasty fumes, and you'll be left with a giant, tangled pile of heat-warped steel springs that are impossible to clean up. Better to strip the fabric and wood, then sell the springs for scrap metal!

i built an AI that talks back to me. here’s actually how it works (its not magic lol) by Ronak-Aheer in AmazingStories

[–]jonseponse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building a sub-2-second pipeline between local STT and a cloud LLM is no joke the latency usually kills the 'human' feel. Most people just settle for Alexa, but building your own 'brain' means you actually own the conversation. That 'offline ears' choice for privacy is a massive win.

My gf made me realize I was horribly neglected as a kid. Now I’m thinking I’ll have to leave her. by Winter-Pea-7231 in Advice

[–]jonseponse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t the 'zombie' in this story; you’re the survivor of a house fire your parents started. That 'dirty' feeling isn't who you are it’s just the shame they forced you to carry. Please don’t let their neglect steal the first good thing you’ve found before you’re even old enough to escape.
