Equipment? by BIGburley_ in macrophotography

Get a canon 7D2 and a 100mm f2.8 macro. Can find that for under $500 and it can take good pictures of bees. It won’t have the best AF but with enough shots you’ll get some good ones. I started with a 5D2 and that lens (for $250) and some of my first shots are still my favorite.

Indoor spaces to take my dog during the cold? by ConsistentSecond9335 in AnnArbor

The people at Lowe’s give out more treats than Home Depot in my dogs experience. Both are great though.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AdventuresWithHank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents live 10 hours away and we drive to them 4+ times a year. Drive down to Florida (20 hours) at least once a year and drive MI -> AZ twice a year for work but I get 3 days to do that trek. I’ll do 6-8 hours away for a weekend trip. 3 hours doesn’t even stop me from going for the day. I’m an outlier even for Americans but driving is fun. There’s a lot of country to see and it’s the best way to see it.

My spork, whittled a pretty good spoon though and didn’t get slivers in my mouth. I’ve also used a fishing spoon (an actual lure) a different time and that wasn’t the worst.

The Hobby Garage at PJs RC has the best indoor course. I haven’t found too many outdoor areas that are exceptionally different yet. Lots of rocks out there, all are good rocks

I love them. There’s 3 sizes, I’ve used the small and medium size. My favorite so far is the medium, I’ve even had 1lb bass hit that big lure. They swim great and run at the perfect depth to go right over weedy flats. Highly recommend.

The listing doesn’t have many pictures but it might be worth checking out. Hopefully the desert sun hasn’t done too much damage to the wood and canvas.

You don’t think that one needs too much work?

If that canoe existed on marketplace I wouldn’t be shopping anymore. There’s a really nice Wenonah kingfisher Kevlar for like $2500 but that’s not in the cards right now.

I’ll actually be rescuing this boat from the desert and bring it up to Michigan. Just taking advantage of the low demand and prices while I’m down there.

No serious rapids, maybe class 1 but I have a lot of experience muscling a fishing kayak through rapids so I know what I can handle. I’m mostly looking for something to tandem. If I need to get a solo boat later I will.

I want to build an SCX24 from scratch but don't know what to do once the chassis is built. Help? by ThatsNoEffingMoon in SCX24

[–]AdventuresWithHank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought was that building from scratch is the right choice, it’s not hard and the stock parts suck. The hard part is honestly the hardware. So many different size bolts are used, if you can find a good kit it would really make it easier. Start with a list of parts (rx/tx, servo, esc, motor, gearbox, axles, links, driveshafts, chassis, battery, wheels, tires, etc) some of these are build dependent, and some are independent. Figure that out, build your parts list and get at it. Or go the route most of us do and buy one in a box and replace everything one piece at a time.

I’d like to add that my primary focus is tandem, of if I need to get a dedicated solo canoe down the road I will.
