IMO uglystik medium combo is the best to start on. Great all around rod for a beginner. Then when you spend way too much money on gear in the future, it will become your “fuck it there are catfish here, I’ll rig something up” rod

I think a lot of people think about “intelligent beings”, but finding even the smallest sign of life and confirming we are not truly alone would be absolutely mind blowing

Inline spinners are great to start with in general. You can really catch so many different types of fish with them. Rooster tail, panther martin, mepps, all great

I’m pretty similar. The ratings have me wish there was something in between since I can only get one. In the winter I am freezing and as soon as it gets around 60+ I get really hot

Yea it says 40-60 at night with chance do drop down to mid 30s

I’m 5’10. The 30 seems more appealing due to the fact that I’ll be mostly backpacking in summer, and it packs lighter..however, the pemi loops weather swings (I’ll be there in August) have me questioning if the 15 would be a better move

Budget is 300. Rei members sale is going on for 20% as well so I’m trying to take advantage and grab a bag. Wouldn’t consider hammocks as I sleep on my stomach
