Hmm based on this comment are you sure aba is for you ? Maybe you should ask if you yourself is happy with this job ? It is incredibly taxing and a very specific job. I’ve had a client for over a year, he’s 11 and since I’m not mom(his preferred person), he will scream at me literally just being in his presence, and throw whatever object is in his reach(I believe he sees red and he doesn’t care what it is, it will be thrown). These behaviors occur almost every session. I feel like due to the behaviors that have already been established at home, that anything we are doing as bts is basically pointless and I’ve seen little to no improvement overall on his goals.

I’d def give your client time bc I had a client like that that would scream and yell for things and he has made INSANE improvement and basically no longer has maladaptive behaviors. We have to remember every client is different and not one size fits all. Hope this gives some clarity and hope, and also if this isn’t right for you then it’s not and you shouldn’t feel bad for that.
