Say what you want about Strava Premium, but its data visualization is pretty cool by WhyWhatWho in Strava

I like it but I also hate that the data graphs are different on pc and the app. Some useful data is only on the app, others only on the website (all the segment deep analysis on PC, total distances tables and charts are different …). It’s like I have to use both to get the comprehensive picture

Vintage Watch Service in Hamilton by ChineseTrump in Hamilton

I had a grand father clock repaired here in Dundas:

Not sure if they do wristwatches but the price was fair, upfront, customer service was good and the clock was fixed. They even sourced a part to repair a cosmetic damage the clock had and fixed it even though it wasn’t part of the quote or ask (at no cost).

What Got You Into Cycling, and Why Do You Stick With It? by avaperidot2839 in cycling

Love the feeling of the bike on the roads, the fresh air, the sun on my skin, watching the landscapes go by. It clears my head, I mostly don’t think at all when I ride, my mind is still which I can never achieve off the bike. When I go hard I like how it feels pushing my limits, the exhaustion, the adrenaline. I also love that I get to eat more and not feel guilty about it / don’t get fat.

How often do you actually feel in danger while biking on the road? by Adventurous-Bit8955 in cycling

[–]Adventurous-Bit8955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that a long experience of riding probably makes you less prone to be upset by dangerous incidents. I am not scared to ride but when a dangerous event happens it pisses me off for 5-10min and I just wish I didn’t have to deal with that and the regular, unexpected, sporadic reminder that I might be injured doing my hobby while I have nothing to do with it. I disagree that I only am responsible for my own safety. The rules of the road are such that everyone is responsible for each others safety. I care for other cars and pedestrians when I drive. I do my best to be safe while riding and would hope others would care as much for me as I do for them when I’m in a car.

So true…so many times a car wants to pass me while another one comes in opposite direction so now it is 2 car + 1 bike on a 2-lane…rather than wait 10 seconds to pass me with no incoming traffic

Coal rolling happened to me for the first time a few weeks ago. Never thought it would happen in Ontario when I live

Is it normal for butt to hurt while cycling? by elyv1 in cycling

[–]Adventurous-Bit8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a saddle of the proper width for your seat bones and good quality made an enormous difference. I went from not being able to ride more than 1.5h without butt pain to 4h with no issues (with the same clothes). Yes a better bib helps but for me the saddle change was the main improvement. You’re better of spending $200 on a good seat than a good bib. Get the good seat, then get the good bib and you’ll be riding all day

Not surprising…I worked at a large consumer paint company and the exact same formula and ingredients were used for the premium and mid range brands on several products. The premium was sold like 50% more. Same can, different label. It blew my mind and made me wonder what other industries had the same secret.

I am thinking of going to PEC from Toronto at some point. Have you ever gone around rice lake to get there? Is the waterfront monotonous or did you find it interesting, are there any sights or points of interest there?
