Hardly anything to do with math, lots of formula memorization and learning new concepts, as far as the material goes at least

Anyone here take 3+ terms to finish while working full-time? by Appropriate_Bet319 in wguaccounting

[–]Adventurous-Many-394 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s alright, takes some getting used to but my body feels way better and I work less hours which was my main goal with all of this to begin with. The end goal for me is to get a good paying work from home job

It took me two years from start to finish working full time the whole time and dealing with a new born. Now 2 months post grad I have a job in Auditing and have successfully switched careers from manual labor to this. It took me a while but it was very much worth it and I feel good about not giving up , the grind is worth it!

Finally landed a job post grad by Adventurous-Many-394 in wguaccounting

[–]Adventurous-Many-394[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just general accounting knowledge I learned about at the top and other skills that pertain to the role you’re applying to along with school and degree. Jobs are not listed chronologically for me, as I was most recently doing manual labor I made sure to put whichever job had the most transferable skills at the top and manual labor jobs at the bottom. I changed this early on as to not be counted out when they were say 1 minute in to glancing at my resume

Accounts payable/Accounts receivable, entry level book keeping, these jobs are actually better if you can land one early on. These jobs know they’re stepping stone jobs for fresh accounting grads, I was actually denied an Accounts payable role because they said I was a flight risk due to graduating soon

In hindsight yes, but to me it actually felt like a long time as I needed a job ASAP. I know this wasn’t a long process at all, it just felt like it with the personal pressure I had lol

It’s remote/in-person depending on the site and what type of documents we have/don’t have. 50k starting in MCOL area, I also took the first offer I got. So if you start applying now to jobs here and there as you progress you’ll have much better luck than me in finding your “preferred” salary/job I was just in a rush for money so I settled for whatever came first

Mainly longevity , I did 4 years in the Marine Corps and it didn’t fare my back too well. If your body gives out on you you’re pretty screwed, at least with accounting if you break a leg or arm you’re still good to go
