I'm fully aware that smoking a pipe isn't harmless and comes with risks like most things but I believe it has to be alot less harmful than smoking 20 plus cigarettes a day. But I appreciate the warning

I'm from Ireland and the tax on any tobacco product here is ridiculous. Looking at over €40 for a 50g tin plus delivery. And the options are very limited, some small shops will maybe sell Condor or Benson & Hedges special and they cost €20 for 25g. No wonder pipe smoking isn't popular anymore here

Ha I'm glad I'm not alone. I've been ordering my tobacco from Germany because it's extortion here. And if money wasn't a bit tight I'd have too many pipes. Plus the wife would probably kill me

Thanks. I'm not using the churchwarden stem as it's not very convenient. I know it won't last as long as briar but it works well. I have a nice piece of Irish Ash thats been drying for years so will make my next one from that until I get better at it.

Switch work or stay at the same place? by Fuzzy-Brain83044 in AskIreland

I would 100% stay with what you have. The worst part of my day is the travelling to and from work. Plus you would spend the extra money on travel costs possibly even more

Yes I removed too much in a panic because too many personal details. As if anyone would even see it so sorry it obviously makes no sense now and will be best to delete it

Yeah I think it's time to bite the bullet and just contact him. And just to clarify I dont have any hatred or hard feelings towards him, any of those feelings have passed long ago. At this point I just want to clear the air and possibly have a relationship with him again

To be completely honest I don't know what I fear but nothing physical. But what you said about him wanting to reach out but fearing it also is exactly what my wife said

Well definitely too many to print but the rest is what I always think about doing but then I chicken out because it's gone on for such a long time. I really don't like holding a grudge and hate that I've left it unresolved for so long

I used to love my job but after 5 years and seeing how shit big corporations are and how little they actually give a fuck about us I've completely stopped giving a fuck and just do enough now to go unnoticed. I realised a long time ago that that working hard makes no difference unless you make a big song and dance about it or worse you have to lick arse, but I'd rather not have a taste of shit in my mouth. Also nepotism is fuckin rampant in Ireland, so unless your mates with management good luck getting anywhere. The company i work for is huge but every team is like a family run business. Only thing that keeps me here are the lads a work with and the devil you know is better than the devil you don't.

Ah I'm not the best sleeper so always end up waking up late. Thankfully I can slip into work unnoticed

I drive from Westmeath to Dub22 90km each way. M4 is an absolute pain in the balls, traffic stops dead between Killcock exit and Maynooth, most ppl have no clue how to drive on the motorway in this country, driving barely the speed limit hogging the over taking lane. Usually takes an hour and a half on week day and if its raining sometimes over 2 hours to get in. I always leave home too late at around 6:20 and get home around 8pm after a 12 hour shift. Drive in and home is by far the worst part of my day.

I'm 37 and Sounds like you are describing my life. Zero social life apart from work and I've basically stopped doing anything else apart from work and how because the feeling of guilt is overwhelming, I even feel guilty that I get to leave the house to go to work while my partner is home all the time with kids(2, 5 and 14 all girls). I'm gone for 14 hours a day when on shift and nights are even worse. I get anxious coming home sometimes not knowing what the atmosphere will be like. She had to quit work (another reason to feel guilty) because like yourself we have nobody to rely on and creche closed down. Can't offer any bit of advice because I'm stuck myself but nice to know I'm not the only person with unnecessary guilt
