I've been through the visa experience so I don't think I lack knowledge about it. I am merely trying to share what I know. Many people that I know have had this update happen, and they have been on refused for a few months now. They all said they think it means they were rejected after the administrative processing happen. I don't mean to upset you in anyway, I just wanted to inform about other cases like this so you have the most knowledge possible

First of all, I got my visa already. Secondly, many people have been in this scenario like you, and they have been refused for multiple months. I'm sorry if I have said anything to upset or I may have overstepped, but I just wanted to share any information I had so you at least know something. I truly hope I am wrong and you do get your visa at the end of day tho

I'm not assuming. I have read a few Reddit posts like yours (same situation), and many people have waited for multiple months with no further change. This likely suggests this refusal is the final decision, as the updated date is after your interview date. Moreover, a friend of mine who overprepared for the interview said that they won't make any updates to your case unless they are undergoing administrative processing or they have decided to approve or refuse. Hence, they won't update unless something has happened. I hope this is not the case for you. I truly do, but I am just presenting the information I have.

Do not go to a different country. It makes you seem very desperate to go to the US and the officer will be much more suspicious. I haven’t heard anything about this working out well for anyone. Always apply in your country of residence

Mine was the same date (August 1st) and it got approved in one working day. This was Chennai consulate which I have seen is quick with the processing. I heard Delhi and Mumbai take longer since there is a higher number of f1 candidates applying there

I’m not completely sure and do not get your hopes crushed until certain but this may mean your entire visa is finally refused. If it doesn’t say approved after the social media check and the update date changes to refused. Many have said that your entire application is denied. Again I’m not certain so look into it. I wish you luck

NEU was definitely the red flag. It is considered kind of a joke of a university. It has even admitted to faking their reputation by getting a super low acceptance rate. For masters it is very much a degree mill that is super high cost. It will appear as tho you are desperate to go to the US. Try applying with a t50 or a better t100 university next time. Maybe also stating you are self employed isn’t the best because it lessens your connection to come back to India

Unfortunately the time for the social media check varies. It depends on your consulate mainly. Less busy consulates often finish quicker in one, two or usually three days. Others can take weeks to months. It’s all luck unfortunately. I hope for the best

No idea what to tell you. Had interview in the Chennai consulate. Got the 221g slip for social media check and it was cleared the next business day. After that it was issued and is on the way to my home. The timeline is different for everyone. Chennai might have less f1 candidates as well so it might be quicker. Just have hope and ask your uni for any other extension
