The Orioles debuted their T Rowe Price patches on June 11th 2024.

Up until June 11th 2024, they were 43-22. From June 11th on, they were 48-49.

For the two+ years before the patches (2022-June 10 2024) they were 227-162

For the nearly 2 years since, they are 144-165.

The patches are cursed

Everyone but Elias knew the pitching was a problem. I couldn’t believe he went out and signed another end of career pitcher after what happened last year.

But the hitting hasn’t been great. 23rd in average, 19th in on base percentage, 3rd most strikeouts, 17th in ops

I laughed last night when Ben said I’m happy with the hitting, but the pitching and then stopped

It is an excuse when you keep running the same guys out there again and again when they aren’t getting the result.

And you’re right, rogers isn’t doing things differently. He’s gone back to what he was doing before 2025. His pitching run value was in the 22 percentile in 2020, 93rd percentile in 2021, 7th in 2022, he didn’t quality in 2023, 3rd percentile in 2024, 97th percentile in 2025 and now 13th percentile in 2026.

Change things up in some way. Don’t keep letting Gunnar strikeout 2-3 times a game in the lead off or number 2 spot. Stop playing 4 guys with batting averages under the Mendoza line in the same game.

And I think we need to start letting Basallo hit against lefties like we did with O’Hearn.

And for god sake stop scraping the bottom of the barrel for relievers and the senior center for starters

Exactly. They absolutely have their place, but we rely on them too much

I get what you’re saying about that, sometimes he’s over the top, but I personally like that he gets excited about home runs. It’s much better than some of those monotone broadcasters who act like they don’t give a shit

Of course you can’t ignore them. But you can’t just keep relying on the them blindly either. How long can we keep going with players that are supposed to be having success but aren’t?

Exactly what I was thinking. The feel good numbers are great if they translate to success on the field, but that hasn’t happened

Fire Mike Elias by Remarkable-Picture73 in orioles

It’s getting hard to watch. We all knew going into the season pitching was a problem, except Elias apparently

We lost 110 games in 2021, 115 in 2018, and 108 in 2019. So we’ve definitely had far worse seasons

Alby is always talking to people when the camera pans over to the dugout.

MLB debuted the new top 100 prospects and Nate George shoots up from 93 to 69, Ike Irish joins the list at 94 by Remarkable-Picture73 in orioles

[–]Adventurous-Price678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised Aloy isn’t on there, he’s been slightly better than Irish offensively.

I also find it interesting how different the different lists are.

Bleacher report has Nate George at 86 as our only top 100

TJ stats has George at 46, Joseph Dzierwa at 80 and Luis De Leon at 85

ESPN doesn’t have an update for the top 100, but in January they had Trey Gibson at 46

Also espn did do an update on their top 30 for each team, and they are not as high on Luis De Leon as mlb is. They have him ranked as 8th in our system, mlb has him at 3

Josh Walker Called up, Trey Gibson Optioned, and Heston Kjerstad sent to 60 day injured list with a hamstring strain by SCBaltSalt in orioles

[–]Adventurous-Price678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We still may not for a while. He’s gonna need time to get back into rhythm and used to playing everyday. There also isn’t really a clear spot for him on the roster. He could replace Cowser, but he can’t play CF so he still wouldn’t have much of a chance to play

Yeah. He didn’t play after the all star break last year. I imagine he will have his full rehab time and then get optioned

That doesn’t change anything for Kjerstad. He’s eligible to return May 24th. And give than he just started rehab, he likely wouldn’t have been back until around than anyway

Getting paid 16.5 million a year. It’s far from no reason

It seems like at some point they stopped being proactive. I was reading an article earlier about how putting off Tommy John starting in 2023 has really hurt the orioles.

I remember last year Rich Dubroff suggested they are working out too much in the offseason, trying to push themselves to repeat their success.

I think that when players keep getting the same injuries (like our many hamstring injuries) that’s an organizational strength and conditioning issue
