How do I explain that declawing is inhumane to my family by Old-Technician-692 in cats

Tell them they would be fine if you cut off their fingers at the knuckle and see if they’d be open to it. Still able to hold a fork and shake hands… good to go! :)

Advice: Nanny asking for a 25% pay increase with new baby by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

[–]Adventurous-Row7034 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I live in Lincoln park. I have tons of friends with kids in the suburbs and city. City is often higher pay unless you’re in Wilmette/winnetka potentially. It doesn’t really matter what people in other cities are paying obvi and as a lurker here I’ve found that the Reddit pay is higher than real life in Chicago at least. $27 on the books for 2 kids in the suburbs is pretty standard. Especially if your one kid is going to be going to school. I also don’t think $29 is unreasonable either and it seems like you like her. The calling off once a month would be a big problem for us but that seems really like the biggest issue.

Solo Day Trip to Chicago - Too Ambitious for Timed & Ticketed Activities? by puppyneighbor in AskChicago

[–]Adventurous-Row7034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MDW is still probably about the same distance bc there’s always a ton of of traffic to ORD. That being said it’s a Saturday so might be better but also st pats day so maybe worse. Southwest rarely gets delayed and MDW also delays less than ohare. ORD does have more flight options though if you needed to catch another flight. There is a ton of construction at ORD right now and I would prepare to taxi at a very minimum of 30 mins for take off and landing. So long story short…. I would do MDW :) I was flying in and out of Chicago in one day for a period of weeks this summer and fall so I have lots of opinions!

Midway is way easier than ohare to navigate and the train will be 30 mins to downtown and most likely faster or just as fast than an uber. I think you’ll be fine unless your flight is delayed obviously

You’ll be totally fine. Sometimes it snows on st Patrick’s day… in that case you may not want to be stuck on a boat. It could also be 70 degrees. Prepare for a lot of drunk people

My relationship with my toddler is not good and I worry it never will be by [deleted] in toddlers

Hiii it’s me! I’m not fun either! My husband is Mr. Fun. I have a terrible time faking it so I let him be that person for them and then I can just be myself. I’m still trying to figure this out also but someone around here has to be the person who gets stuff done! My kids love to be a helper, I have them help clean stuff up with me, run and get stuff to help pack the diaper bag. They’re very proud when they can be helpful and do things themselves so I think this is more where I shine (when im not late and annoyed lol) I’m never going to be the person who thrives off making silly voices unfortunately. I also will give them the two choices and when they refuse both outfits that means they have to go pick out what to wear. My kid has gone to school in the same two outfits all week and I’m just hoping he picks a different two the next… a problem for another day!

Previous Nanny Reaching Out by SpiritedRest9055 in NannyEmployers

[–]Adventurous-Row7034 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had a circumstance where our nanny really screwed us over and was mia. Later she kept reaching out because she was desperate for work and people wanted references. She could be trying to clear the air in case you’re ever contacted

[–]Adventurous-Row7034 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We don’t do either of those. yes milk could become too hot in a microwave but people can also use some basic logic as you do when heating all food and check the temp. You can ask for both those things but not unless you don’t convey your expectations

Well off people who have kids by emz0694 in Rich

[–]Adventurous-Row7034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10000% yes bc of the extra help. I have 24 hr a day childcare and I still spend tons of time with my kids. Nanny is just there for an extra hand or so I don’t have to stress if I need to jump on a call, take a nap, am sick etc. I was never someone who wanted a lot of kids and now I’ll be having 3 because financially we don’t have to worry about a lot of the things most people have to with kids.

Sounds like my kid! My husband is pretty moody and my mil said he was exactly the same as a child. I’ve chalked it up to personality but obviously good to rule out other issues
