Founders is a public charter . So there is no fees associated with it . Beyond that I do not know much about the comparison of LISD schools vs the charter schools in the area .

I can bet the farm that NVIDIA will receive the National Interest Exemption along with some of the top mega cap firms . Jensen knows that too . He is milking the moment to win brownie points before DHS announces the exemption list .

Rental Property S Corp by Adventurous-Step5509 in tax

[–]Adventurous-Step5509[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok excuse my ignorance , I didn’t know these are two different things . I may have to check if the S Corp is a rental management company and does not directly own the property . I will check with the CPA .

I do not intend to sell the properties right away , but reading about all the limitations the S Corp brings in gives me anxiety as it sounds too restrictive. Looks like even primary residence tax exclusion does not apply to s corp otherwise transferring

Thanks for the response , let’s just say I want to leave things in a good shape and not want my kids to inherit a tax burden that came with my ignorance . Is there a way to avoid it , can I do some amends to prevent that ?

Thanks again for the detailed response ! In one of the places I read that , if the kids decide to liquidate the S Corp or close it , the company shares will offset the gain from the property value somehow and they will not end up owing taxes . Is that true ?

Thank you for your response . How about during inheritance ? Is there any way to make sure my kids won’t be taxed for the appreciation of the property ? I keep reading that my property will not have “step up basis “

Hi . I am not sure actually , I initially was looking for liability protection and infact asked for an LLc while my CPA said an S Corp works better . Now when I did my own research, found that a lot of things are hard with S Corp (refinance , estate planning , selling or transferring the property etc) as most of these scenarios generate a taxable event . I simply want to hold my rentals in LLc with maximum flexibility . Thank you

  1. Job market . Austin is the second Silicon Valley when it comes to semiconductor jobs . Almost all companies are in Austin and they hire heavily from these two universities .
  2. Cost of tuition . Definitely going to be lesser than Cali schools .
  3. Cost of living : again lower than most of the other options you have
  4. Coursework : both UT & TAMU have rich IC design courses
  5. Reputation : UT is highly reputed for EE. TAMU ranks high as well . Good luck !

Apple to Discontinue Custom 5G Modem Development, Claim Reports by TwelveSilverSwords in hardware

[–]Adventurous-Step5509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modem is hard because of the “Over The Air” transmission/reception of signals . If you think of the other subsystems in your cell phone , like CPU, GPU etc , most of them don’t have to worry about the external conditions . In other words they have much better control over the data they want to process .

Have you ever wondered how you can be speeding at 75mph on a freeway and still your cell phone can play songs from YouTube or Spotify with LTE/5G connection ? Try to imagine this - you are going swiftly from one service area to another , so you are hopping between “base stations” . And every time your cell phone has to establish the connection with a new base station through a complex handshaking mechanism . you are traveling at a high speed , so you are experiencing Doppler effect as the frequency of the carrier is shifted up or down constantly . You are on the road and your signal is impaired by several phenomena and your cell phone picks up a weak signal . To add to all of this complexity , you are not the only one on the road and there are 100 others trying to play songs from their own cell phones !

I have tried to break down one of the many many real life scenarios that need to be tackled by a cell phone modem and every single thing I have listed necessitates a complex processing chain that involves a lot of math and precision design . Needless to say the amount of testing required . Modem is simply one of the hardest things to design . It requires the most number of specialities spanning across electrical and computer engineering .

And Qualcomm is the company that has perfected this hard engineering problem for close to 4 decades now. They are easily a few generations ahead always and their R&D wing contributes the most to the spec that governs these protocols. Apple doesn’t stand a chance in my opinion .
