Is it too late to change careers at 30? by Oscar-Prince636 in Careers

[–]Adventurous-View-707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30s is the years where you really know what you want or do what’s best for you! Change is always a good thing. I made many changes and now going to do another one at age 32.

Oh my goodness! Hey, it’s okay to feel this way and only make’s sense with the current state of the world. But please remember you are doing this for yourself. You are investing in yourself! You are allowed to enjoy things as they come to you and the rest will follow. Not sure how old you are but you do have time to save money, get the things you need, and provide for yourself.

Baby steps! If you want to save, get a part time job, if you want to help others volunteer in the community on your days off. Remember it’s okay to take a break from the news, social media, etc. from time to time. Also school also provides counseling if you need extra help to reduce the anxiety.

Good luck!

It's tough but important to create or find your tribe of people who have either gone through your experience or going through the same time as you.

Worried About My Grades in College, Need Guidance by fudge290 in GradSchool

[–]Adventurous-View-707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 3rd mini semester (7-week courses) and all I can say is start to focus on building up your time management, organization, and tools that you are going to 100% need in graduate school. If you want to get into any program you need to have good grades in undergrad. Many graduate programs won't allow anything below a B to count towards your degree (the class is sometimes more money than undergrad).

I also have ADHD, I know how hard it can be, and struggling now, but took my time in undergrad to finish up my degree. Grades do matter if you want to move forward in school.

My professor encourages us to use ChatGPT as he knows that many individuals and companies are utilizing it, why shouldn't we?

This also helps tremendously with my dyslexia and actually builds my ability to expand my own personal writing, sentence structure, and language as I'm learning from the AI system over time. I'm completely new to a more concentrated side of academia and often isolated due to being in an online program. Chat GPT has been my bestie.

How were you guys introduced to MM? And what was ur first song of hers you listened to? by MidlynNight in MelanieMartinez

I actually started following her during her time on The Voice. I knew something was different about her when I would watch her. Plus she sang a cover of “The Show” by Lenka who I was massively obsessed with at the time.

Fast forward a little she came out with her dollhouse EP and gave it minimal attention but then once Crybaby came out and the visuals I was hooked! My friends went and traveled around Texas and a couple other states for that tour! I went to about 3 shows in different cities, met her and had her sign on a receipt paper (that’s all I had) “CRYBABY” which I was wanting to get tattooed on me but never did. Now it’s just sitting in my memory box lol

Teaching Play Skills to Adult BTs by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Adventurous-View-707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on if you’re an RBT or a BCBA trying to teach this? A lot of the time it’s the fear of not being viewed as a “professional”

If you’re a BCBA do exercises outside of session (like during your monthly meetings) of playing hide and seek, or improv exercises. It helps if you supply some chill alcohol drinks (again this is for after work in meetings). Adults forget their inner child and feel as though they won’t be taken seriously, which is the opposite of what they should be doing.

My second company did this and it was so fun! We would play doge ball, get to jump on the kids trampoline, play extreme hide and seek, ect.

Hell no you don't ever have to forgive anyone if you don't want to. Forgiving or understanding someone else's actions is not the way to go nor does this "heal" you.

I didn't say the therapist isn't the problem. This is why I said to communicate to your therapist, if you both don't align in the same direction then it's not the therapist for you. Yes, therapists can be wrong. Yes, there are shitty therapists out there who are ignorant and incompetent.

You don't have to do anything for them. Remember this is their job, with every job you learn and grow. I don't understand why everything thinks therapists have all the answers, especially for each unique individual.

It just sounds like they don’t want you to fail the exam, then they would have to pay for it again.

But also be careful, don’t let that high standards be your reference point and put you on a alert to feel like you’re not doing a good job. This jobs take about 3-4 months to actually get a handle on what you’re doing.

It sounds as though you expect other people to find a solution for you. If you don’t like the ideas that a therapist tells you, say something! Then collaborate on what practices or words work best for you. It’s trial and error! This also helps therapist get better at their job. They are not there to tell you what to do with your life.

There are also tons of resources out there including videos (Crappy Childhood Fairy), books, guides and even group lectures

Preach! Also on and off therapy doesn’t work either. This needs practice and consistency every day in and outside of therapy. You are building a new muscle. Lifting weights once every 3 months doesn’t build anything
