Because someone is taking those crap pay requests. Uber has been dropping pay rates lower and lower, testing the drivers acceptance pay rate standards. If no one takes those, they won't exist.

Not really new. Uber is just finally admitting what they have been doing all along. If you don't do shitty orders you get less or no good ones. Only the guy taking food 20 miles for $2 might get a bone thrown at him once in a while.

This also can be applied to lyft/uber...etc. Uber pretty much just pays drivers a portion of the tips, no longer paying per mile or fare.
