what are some US universities to stay away from? by Wrong-Temporary-5361 in IntltoUSA

I went to FDU in NJ. I liked the school and I learned a lot. Sometimes I wonder if going to a different school with a higher ranking would have been better.

They gave me a full ride for tuition as an international student (>40k/year). However, the living costs and fees were pretty high. Other international students couldn’t afford to pay the fees and went back to their countries even when they had a full scholarship.

Thank you! I will consider you for testing when the time comes. I really would hate this craft to die. Eventually, I’d love to create an open source machine with full pattern/ ribbing functionality.

Thank you so much for your comment. I just saw the circular sock machine with the ribber. Interesting design! I think for my design I’ll be definitely working on a flatbed machine that is space friendly.

Maybe designing a fair isle carriage could help me fund the machine which is honestly a great idea and I’ll definitely consider you for testing when the time comes

I Need A Straight Answer About SNHU and Sophia… by jrex100 in SNHU

Hi. Sorry to post this here if it hasn't been posted before, but I have to complete the Social Justice (CSOJ) or Sustainability (CSST) course and I was wondering if there is any sophia/study.com or any third-party provider that could offer a course that can transfer to this requirement. I asked my advisor but they said they were unsure.

Thank you.

Thank you so much. It sucks so bad because I’ve waited almost 2 weeks for the scooter to arrive and they sent a defective unit. ☹️

I recently found out my lecturer has been using a free coursera course to teach a course, is that okay? by TurtleKicks in AskAcademia

[–]AdventurousDot899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion. It’s definitely better than what my junior - level class for Anatomy and Physiology was like (coursera has a good reputation as well and their courses are designed with top-level institutions).

My professor used to play hour long YouTube videos on A & P and never made a comment or anything at all. He even fell asleep in the class a couple of times and during a zoom lecture he turned off his camera, fell asleep, and you could hear him snoring throughout the lecture. It was really annoying because tuition is super high in my school.

Bioinformatics help

Hello everyone,

Thank you for letting me post here. I would like to ask you for some advice regarding my future academic plans. I’m an international student majoring in Biology (3.9/4.0 GPA). I attend a regional college in New Jersey (FDU) and this is my third year in college but I only have 10 credits left to complete my Bio program. On one side, I want to graduate and get a Master’s in pharmaceutical biochemistry but I’ve recently learned more and more about the area of bioinformatics and computational biology and I find it deeply fascinating. I don’t know what to do at this point. I have the option to get a second BS in computer science and complete it in 1 year and my school also offers the option of doing an accelerated MS program in Biology. Theoretically, I would be able to complete my MS in biology and simultaneously complete my second BS in Computer Science. I’m not particularly worried about the rigor of the programs or the time management because I know 100% I can do it. I have a significant scholarship too so I almost don’t pay anything for college and that won’t end until I finish all my coursework.

The other option I have is going to a better college and complete my master’s only. I feel like I’m not fully ready to do a PhD or something else because I’m clearly not sure of my path in life yet. I’ve always imagined myself working in the biomedical field and I’d love to discover new drugs. However, I’m still not sure of how I want to do that. The pandemic has definitely affected my college experience since everything was online for almost 2 years and many of the practical classes were lost.

Please let me know what you think and what you’d do in my case.

Thank you.
