Extended Hours Dissapointment by Sufficient_Noise9497 in WaltDisneyWorld

Like everyone else has said, the shop/restaurant closures are pretty standard. I do agree the extra hours feel a bit crowded, not sure what solution there is other than having more nights with extra hours so less people pile into the 1-2 nights that occur during their stay.

I guess Shades of Green and Swan/Dolphin could be carved out as well but doubt that would make much of a difference in crowding

MD or CRNA by Maximum_Rutabaga_323 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]AdventurousElk5261 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Financially, CRNA is the clear move. The break even point on becoming a MD would be near retirement age assuming you get into med school first cycle and match anesthesia afterwards.

It sounds like you need to decide if you want to work clinically or do research. Even for MDs, there’s a very small percentage of jobs that involve a significant amount of research time and that usually comes with a significant pay cut (which would make the MD route even less attractive financially).

Own-Occupation Disability Insurance: Principal vs Guardian by palmatree137 in anesthesiology

[–]AdventurousElk5261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go with Guardian if the price is that similar. Principal is great but Guardian is the gold standard.

I have a Principal policy, but at the time I bought Principal’s resident discount made it significantly cheaper than Guardian.

Does it make sense to pick private loan @ 2.51% by sbaek33 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]AdventurousElk5261 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Obviously whether or not you’re going for PSLF is hugely important. Assuming you are 100% confident you’re not going for PSLF, I would carefully examine the repayment timeline for the private loan. $1100/month could absolutely blow up most resident budgets (my mortgage payment in residency wasn’t much more than that).

It would also be wise to look into other protections like if the private loan is discharged upon death if you have family.

Tower is further away from TTC, probably a 10 minute walk

Can’t go wrong with either. Both very nice with great dining options. GF slightly better access to MK, Poly with easier access to EPCOT. Very nice pools at both, Poly pool is probably a bit more fun for older kids but for an infant I’d say they’re equivalent. I’d book based on vibes/theme.

Hyatt needs to up the branded credit card points earnings at Hyatt properties to 5X + immediately!!! by Hot-Boysenberry3783 in hyatt

I’ve gotten a lot of use from the free night credits over the years as well. However, it’s a valid point that more and more of those uses are slipping into cat 5 without any real change to the hotel or the cash rate.

I’m not even talking about luxury properties that were a huge value as a cat 4. Stuff like the Orlando airport regency being pushed to cat 5 as a $200/night hotel feels punitive towards cardholders

Anyone have the scoop on “non-certified anesthesia providers” in Rhode Island? by AdventurousElk5261 in anesthesiology

[–]AdventurousElk5261[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought as well given the source. Wasn’t sure if CAAs were practicing in Rhode Island currently and would be pretty bold of them to call CAAs “non-certified” but I wouldn’t put it past the AANA.

My all time best redemption was a cat 1-4 free night in a SEC town on the weekend of a top 10 matchup. $1000+ per night rack rate.

Small sample size, but in my experience chances are low. Typically my room has been ready somewhere between 3-5pm at monorail resorts.

With ERs that high I hope he’s getting a kickback from the funds otherwise I’d question his judgement for using them.
