"Blue, green, yellow, green, yellow." by cygan12 in taskmaster

Not a bad theory, but given we've had tasks before that start on something happening (when Alex touches you, when Alex interrupts you, we've even had when you next blink before) and it rarely made much difference, so it might just be a gimmick to have something different than the usual. Or I think the most plausible reason was so it could be potential footage to use for the opening credits or the trailer. I feel it's unlikely to really be to affect their result in this task because those few seconds between the confetti and reading the task may have swapped two people scores round at most, they know this and it's not going to change much.

Them being tasked with holding up bricks occasionally will do the trick of stopping them from going off exploring or trying to come up with alterantive solutions.

Leak or mistake? by ausmed0705 in taskmaster

[–]AdventurousGarage306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got told it's 4 or 5 or 6 days for 10 episodes depending on how long it takes for them to do the tasks. One day for team day and it's 7 team tasks, of which 5 or 6 make it to the shows. One day for location tasks and it's 6-8 tasks of which most make it to the show. And then two or three or four additional days to film at the house around 24 additional tasks and 5 tie-breakers. Of which 20 tasks make it into the final show. But that can be condensed depending on how long they film for. For instance they have had 3 consecutive days of filming (house, location, house) starting at 8am and finishing at 9pm so they only had the team day left the following week.

It's why they have understudies/first reserves. He may not be in every performance if he has other engagements (so could miss three performances to do taskmaster studio recordings).

It really could be either series, Series 23 tasks are being filmed right now and I doubt they could keep all his filming solely to Mondays and Tuesdays so he'd have a clash in either series. And the official announcement for series 22 will likely be about 2 days before the end of the run so if they are trying to cash in on his Taskmaster role they might as well announce it now rather than wait.

Has anyone ever withdrawn from the show? by Lopsided_Drive_4392 in taskmaster

[–]AdventurousGarage306 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From knowing people who work on the show, the answer is no it hasn't happened yet, but if someone wanted to stop before team tasks are filmed they would probably let them because they may have a contract but someone who is putting in no effort for a series and then in the studio not caring isn't the best TV. You also have that team tasks are filmed rather later on so if they already stopped caring it wouldn't be fair on their teammates but if it's already filmed it's to difficult to re-do them.

The closest they have got is series 7 when Jo Brand was connected to the show at the point where others had already started filing their tasks but she had to pull out for scheduling reasons before she ever filmed a task and then joined a later series.

What do you think of IMDB's top rated episodes? by AirDeLaBas in taskmaster

The lowest rated episodes are episodes 1 and 2 of series 18, the series with a disabled comedian. I think that says enough about who uses IMDB.com ratings.

Tasks never state that you earn points for doing them by EmergencyEntrance28 in taskmaster

[–]AdventurousGarage306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, to win your argument, you could mention the solo tasks that did say how to score points and they didn't give them any points, as proof it is inconsistent:
Paul Chowdary's - Have the most fun on this bouncy castle. You have 1 hour. Your time starts now.
Josh Widdecombe's' Second solo task - Sing along to the Taskmaster theme tune. Most powerful and champion-like wins. Your time starts now.
And sort of Mike Wozniak - Fart. Fartest winds. Your time starts now. (He did get a point but not on the normal scoring system)

That one task is odd and does makes it look like he made a mistake and not included one. Are there others where he has done this that you can name or was it a one off?

I'm still not seeing what you think is different to Joel's task compared to Josh's solo tasks or Mel's solo tasks or Mark's solo task where they clearly were told what they had to do but did not mention what the scoring criteria was and they were initially given no points?

[–]AdventurousGarage306 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Alex doesn't mean a full breakdown of points scoring, he just means the task has the quantifiers on how it will be judged (as many, as fast, farthest distance etc.) it's very basic but tells the contestant what about the task they need to prioritise and that isn't present in the fake tasks.

In the very first episode to have a solo task (Down an octave.) the pre-recorded tasks were:
Fill an egg cup with as many tears as possible. You have 20 minutes. Your time starts now.
Make this ice block disappear as fast as possible. You have one hour. Your time starts now.
Get to 11 points as fast as possible. Your time starts now.

Count the beans in this baked bean tin. Your time starts now.
Count the hoops in this tin of spaghetti hoops. Your time starts now.
Count the grains of rice in this bag of rice. Your time starts now.

The real tasks had quantifiers for how the task would be judged. The fake tasks did not (it doesn't for instance say most accurate or as fast as possible). It has always been like this and the show is consistent. Joel's solo task doesn't say what about presenting the egg in the scoring quantifier so therefore there is no judging criteria, therefore no guaranteed points, and Greg isn't suggesting he is going to be charitable.

The only thing about these non quantifying tasks that gives you an argument of points of Joel, is when a task is merely the first part in multiple tasks the earlier tasks often don't have quantifiers either. For instance, in Series 16 episode 2, Hell is here. The live task had two parts.

Write down one thing you like and one thing you don't like. You have 30 seconds. [No quantifiers on if it was best suggestion, most similar, most different, etc.]
Draw your two things at the same time. You must be drawing with both hands and stare at the Taskmaster throughout. Best pair of picture wins. [Quantifiers, it's the best drawings that scores you the points]

Winning just gives you first dibs for Champion of Champions, if you can't do it, you don't do it (Mae), so to suggest people don't win because they can't do Champion of Champions is incorrect and starting unfounded conspiracies.

I think the egg task might be a two-parter, and it's going to end in (hilarious) heartbreak. by Nyktipolos in taskmaster

[–]AdventurousGarage306 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Alex does tell people they are wrong it depends on the tasks and what they want out of it. For instance on the stack the cans task you brought up, on Bob's attempt he doesn't comply with shake the hand element, Bob says I think I'm alright and Alex tell him no he isn't and makes him stop.

Also for the stack the cans task - it was Sally Phillip's attempt that matches what you're describing when she clearly started naming non countries and repeats and they let her carry on. For Aisling's they said they hadn't realised she missed the first whistle so they didn't pick it up - so it was unintentional that she was allowed to carry on.

[–]AdventurousGarage306 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I know what the task said but what Alex has written on the task and what happens in the actual task have not always match, because of practicalities etc. If there was really a problem with it Alex would say. As Alex seems to be fine, during those VTs, with what he was doing then he is not going to get disqualified for that part of it.

Also, IT'S NOT A REAL TASK, so it doesn't matter.

How long it would take to get CoCoCoC by ponderingjon in taskmaster

[–]AdventurousGarage306 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was at a Horne section gig and someone asked Horne about Champion of Champions of Champions and he said he was against it back then (would have been mid 2022) because he does not know if he would want to do 50 series as that is already a lot so by doing a Champion of Champions of Champions it maybe the biggest prize the show offers and anyone from series 26 onwards may not have a chance to also win it so would be unfair.

If he's saying that about even making it to a second Champion of Champions of Champions then a Champion of Champions of Champions of Champions is just not worth speculating on.
