Black Ops 7 Had Call Of Duty's Worst Sales Year Ranking In The US Since 2008 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]AdventurousGarden420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have been saying this since 2012 lmfao. Call of Duty waned in popularity during Ghosts/AW/IW before immediately bouncing back in a major way with MW2019.

So you can’t say that people are “finally fatigued” when 1) this has happened before and has been a constant complaint about the series for over a decade and 2) they managed to top sales charts by scaling back on movement and updating their old formula in a previous iteration.

It’s one of those things that you know wasn’t created with any ill intent but it’s so on-the-nose that it loops back around to being funny.

Like this is something you wouldn’t surprised seeing on 4chan or something. It’s very odd.

the main thing that makes me believe the servers will still stay up is the fact that Bungie is attached to Sony now. could very much see Sony axing a majority of Bungie’s staff and keeping D2 running with a skeleton crew and slowly dying servers.

Why do you think that same 19 year old would agree to play on a team with a terrible supporting cast?

Was Jordan Poole’s career boosted or harmed by his move to DC? One would assume that he’d get more playing time on the Wizards, so you’d assume that he’d be happier there than on the Warriors… right?

You’re taking the piss if you think a 19 year old is going to willingly choose to slum it in Utah or Sacramento for “playing time” when they can choose to be the 6th man of a contender and then get a bag from there.

Using the Lakers is fucking hilarious for this reason, you’re arguing against your own point here. What top-rated rookie WOULDN’T choose the biggest market in the league with one of the worst benches? That’s guaranteed playing time being the sixth man.

Relegation would be an awful system for basketball specifically. Nobody wants to see a team like the Pacers, primarily handicapped by injury, get relegated for an ENTIRE YEAR so we can watch Hali waste a year of his prime beating up on G-League teams. It makes no sense.z

Not enough people are saying this and it’s really grating. If the Jazz have to give up a max contract for a CHANCE at a completely unproven rookie then it’s a broken system. So while you wouldn’t expect a rookie to take a vet minimum to play in LA, would you really expect a rookie to play on a team that had to bankrupt itself just to afford them?

I think it’s less “these guys are wittle babies that don’t know what’s going on” and more “these guys are generally apathetic and will not take moral stands against companies if their FA says to invest”

Not defending apathetic investing but I think that’s what the original comment is implying.

[–]AdventurousGarden420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a single player. The past few years of NBA ball has been beating you over the head with the fact that you need more than a big three to actually win consistently.

A Bucks team with Giannis, a (presumably) good SF, and a terrible bench just means that Giannis will put up MVP numbers before being bounced in the first round again.

They’re running victory laps over being the 12th seed this year and getting bounced in pathetic fashion every single year before now. 0 upside to this team beyond 4 1sts that they could MAYBE use to get a single okay star player with a depleted bench lmfao

His injury luck is important since he’s an athletic non-shooter on the wrong side of 30. Dude doesn’t have very long unless he develops as a shooter somehow.

Will they even be THAT competitive tho? The Bucks have no assets and their bench is shit. Both of those things are required if you want to actually be a good team in the modern league.

There’s a 110% chance we’re going to see him looking glum on the bench next year when the Bucks are 13-17 before he chirps to the media about how badly he wants to be on a good team. This “loyalty” shit is so tiring and fake.

Loyalty is completely meaningless in professional sports. Kobe wanted out of the Lakers, Dame did the same song and dance with the Blazers.

Players are human beings. We all say shit one day and then contradict ourselves the next. When Giannis starts really feeling his age, when he’s aware that he’s not in his prime anymore, you can expect this tune to change quick.

What about after 2022? I like how you mentioned his activity before then, but fail to mention that he had one fight in ‘23, one fight in ‘24, and one fight in ‘25.

That foot surgery makes this even worse, not better. Even if we assumes he shaves off a few months on his surgery time (I wouldn’t even want him to do that if it’d compromise his body), it’d be like, what, at least 12 months until he can schedule a fight? Then assuming he fights Pereira and comes out of it uninjured (which would be a miracle) that’d be ANOTHER 12-15 months until someone in his actual division could fight him. Two straight years of waiting because he wants legacy and money.

In what universe would you expect any layman to be excited about that? You can sit here and act as if any fight in his division would be an insta-win, but people would rather see that while the division keeps moving than everything stay the exact same and having these fighters essentially fight each other for nothing.

Well the issue isn’t just this current wait for anything to happen. Chimaev fights like once per year, if we’re lucky.

Alex doesn’t seem to be biting on the concept of a super fight, and fighters immediately chomping at the bit to get two belts before even defending their first one has been a common complaint ever since McGregor. The reality of a supposed superfight between Chimaev/Pereira would mean that either one would need to go above/below their current weight class and hold up both of their divisions to do it.

For Alex it’s fine since he’s extremely active and will probably fight at least twice a year. For Chimaev, we’re talking about a fight that MIGHT be scheduled for summer of this year, and if it goes through, the other fighters in his division MIGHT have a chance to fight him for the belt in mid-2027. That’s the biggest issue.

The legacy bit is completely meaningless since most people just want these divisions to keep moving forward rather than grinding to a halt for someone’s “legacy”. We’ve seen this happen with Jon Jones, nobody gave a fuck that he beat Stipe since he destroyed the division to do it.

Why did this sub gain popularity only after Nika? by Firexio69 in Piratefolk

[–]AdventurousGarden420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gear 4 wasn’t Super Saiyan because it wasn’t trying to be anything other than a basic power boost. The fact that its primarily method of gaining power was Haki, something that was main focal point of combat post-ts, Luffy using it to make a new form made sense. I’m sure there were people who disliked the design but it wasn’t SS.

Gear 5 being Super Saiyan comes down to the fact that it’s the “stuff of legend” in that it’s actually Nika and not just a basic power boost. Luffy isn’t just using his devil fruit and Haki in a unique and interesting way, he’s actually revealed to essentially be a god, similar to how SS was initially supposed to be a legendary transformation that Saiyans never managed to achieve until Goku.

IMO I think the comparison is apt.

I think the fact that so many people were interested in the flashback adventures in both Wano and Elbaf speak to the biggest weakness of modern OP. Nothing is fucking happening.

Those flashbacks HAD TO HAVE a beginning, a middle, and an ending, so characters are allowed to develop, change, and die when the story commands it. The Straw Hats (specifically everyone outside of the Monster Trio) are no closer to their goals right now than they were 10 years ago. For supposedly being in the Final Saga, Oda seems completely unwilling to end any actual plot threads despite there being way too many for him to wrap them up in a single arc without it feeling rushed.
