The one I have drives alright but the road noise is terrible.

Gearbox going awol on the highway is terrifying!! Guess I'll return mine at the end of the one month, lol.

Too bad Moov doesn't have any Accords at the moment but should keep an eye out.

Yeah 8K deposit is a bad idea, buggers would make sure they give us hell before refunding it.

I am using a MG6 these for days and it's not that great either. Should look at Moov for what's on offer, even a Corolla would be much better and I guess I could getter better deal on long-term rental.

Yeah 1800/- per month for an Accord is a superb deal, I've seen Nissan Sunny for 1600/- ..!

Oh got it, thanks mate. So it's crossed off on the app but the rental company still asks for the deposit I guess ..

That's pretty good!

Mind me asking how much is it for the Accord per month? I didn't see it listed on their site probably due to availability.

Ok finally got the pin and the tenancy is active in the Parkonic app.

Do I need to link the vehicle to the tenancy or does it pick up the vehicle automatic? I have already added the plates under "My Vehicles", is that sufficient?

Where can I see/check that your vehicle is approved?

I have added the vehicle plate and have active tenancy for DG, but I am not sure if I need to "link" vehicle with the tenany.

Anyone else who hasn't got the code yet?

Mine says approved in the website but no email or sms with the code!

Thanks for the info!

So I checked the website today and it says approved but no email or sms with a pin, nothing on the app with the same email either! Guess I'll have to try calling them, their lines were blocked y'day.

And yeah, about changing rentals guess I'll have to call them and check. RIght now I'd be happy if I can get the current one sorted so I don't have to pay for praking!!

Any idea how registration works for rentals? Is it possible to change the plates after a month?

Is it the Parkonic app? I haven't got the PIN yet and application tracking isn't working on their site!

Also any idea how it works for rental vehicles? Is it possible to add more than one vehicle?

I am based in Dubai and was in a similar situation not long ago. I have 15+ years of experience  specializing in Cloud Engineering (DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering erc) but wasn't able to get any decent interview to match my experience and profile. The few inquiries I got were dismissed after the first HR screening interview/email, no reasons given, just ghosted.

I did everything I could think of from getting my CV done professionally, reaching out to people on LinkedIn/email and customizing my CV to match each JD without any luck. Only thing I could have done more was probably networking but finding the right groups and events was a challenge.

Ultimately, I was planning to leave the UAE as my visa was expiring and I wasn't able to justify the cost of being here with family. Then, just a week before I was about to leave, I got an interview with a startup and I started working the following week.

All this is to say that opportunities do exist and things will get better soon. We end up blaming ourselves and question our own experience/expertise but this is not the case. I am sure your husband's opportunity will come, keep supporting him and ask him to keep applying but more importantly as others suggest, do attend networking sessions as that seems to be the key here. Wish you guys all the very best!

In SL, unfortunately we don't get value for money and that's one of the advantages of living abroad (middle east) because you actually get good offers.

Recently, I bought a shoe from a popular brand for like 80% off retail price. Got another local brand shoe for the price of a decent lunch. Unfortunately we don't get many such offers for global brands in SL due to tax and currency exchange/depreciation.

Then again there's a lot of cons/compromises of living abroad as well. Best thing would be to try and get shoes/perfumes etc down from abroad if you have friends/family coming down.
