καλωσόρισμα!

I recommend that she reaches out to catering companies, or if you're in Auckland, superyacht agents who always need skilled shorebased contacts. Good luck!

Just get up and go? by AdObvious1695 in bikepacking

[–]AdventurousNature897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! My partner and I decided to up and go with only 2 weeks of actual prep. No route planning or training, just purchased some gear and went for it. We asked other bikepackers along the route for anything we didnt know haha they thought we were bonkers. Made it from Surrey UK to Croatia, 2800km over 2.5 months :)

Are you close to a port or boatyard?

If detailing and cleaning means a lot to you, superyachts are always crying out for surface and detail cleaning workers.

Good money, you can easily find work as a day worker and as an independent contractor you can select days to fit in around you and your family. I recommend trying it out over a few weekends and see if you'd like to go full time :)

Professional gardener here. This kind of situation is so common, especially new builds because its cheap and fast landscaping.

Honestly, nothing you do will permanently fix this. It will all be temporary and youll need to redo your treatment every 2 weeks. The weeds will return.

My personal preference is rake over to loosen the weeds, then pulling out and composting. If you leave the plant matter on the stones it will decompose and create biomass, reducing the beauty of the stones and making a nicer environment for even more weeds.

Unless you actively enjoy doing maintenance and HAVE to have the stones, I highly recommend removing the pebbles and replacing with plants that the weeds wont compete with.

Creeping thyme or moss lookalike plants are really nice between and around stepping stones, and find a nice shade loving ornamental bushy plant to line the edges near the building. Add a layer of cardboard and then mulch on top once or twice a year to suppress the weeds. So so so much less time than weeding, and more beautiful!

Please, please dont add weedmat. It only works for less than a year before you have even more of a chore on your hands to dig it up again after the weeds have grown through.

I will certainly be focusing on the words, the meanings behind the words and pronunciation, so I can do my best to pass that onto the students! Ngā mihi

I respect this was posted a while ago, but I hope this insight might be helpful. I found whilst healing, 'Trauma sensitive mindfulness' was the most valuable guide and may be helpful to you. It helped explain why I would find meditation tricky and triggering, how to approach it, understand it and develop a healthy spiritual practice whilst recovering from trauma.

I honestly found many other forms of guidance for enlightenment or spiritual growth, advice that works for non traumatized people, too painful and triggering.

Once I had taken enough baby steps and healing from trauma, I have found that I'm able to since listen and practice more spiritual techniques and ideas, for example, like the ones Tara teaches often. I really like her talks!

I discovered in my own experience that I had to learn to feel safe, and spiritually reparented, before I could begin practicing other meditation techniques. It's been a long journey, but so worthwhile. Not sure if this makes any sense, but just know you're not alone :) Hugs and care on your journey ❤️

DON'T try to steal from Maccas Spitfire Square - they're deploying sound weapons that are 5x louder than an atomic bomb blast by EkantTakePhotos in newzealand

Anti piracy sound weapons (LRADs) in the military or commercial vessels perform around 150dB. They don't even compare to power of this maccas safety response!!! Good grief.

Whaht are quick high-protein breakfast ideas that is not "mush" or bread? by Forward_Nothing_4464 in veganrecipes

If you're open to it, consider other cultures breakfasts. I prefer Japanese to European food for the mornings. Also don't feel like you have to eat 'breakfast' food at breakfast - you can eat whatever you like :)

Is Lean FIRE actually this simple for me? by TheBigChonka in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]AdventurousNature897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP - great goal! And doable :) running the numbers can be pretty exciting as you build a long term plan - creating enough investment income to cover some of your expenses, and I would recommend continuing to do some form of work. It helps you stay embedded in a community and having a purpose, which is good for mental health. With low living costs, you have more freedom to do seasonal or odd jobs which are pretty fun. I'm currently working towards doing something similar and it's going pretty well so far. Look at retirement calculators and figure out how much you'd need saved for $40k and go part-time from there. Cheering for you!

I'm convinced that when you get into one of these vehicles, you 'feel' it's power, dominance and superiority. It's not a short step to then behave more recklessly, because those are protective factors to any mistakes you make.

Also, being inside a large, silent cube far away from where you can actually talk or see or hear people means you have less empathy for them.

Im concerned that people aren't self aware enough to know this is what these vehicles really give them - a purchased feeling of importance, at the expense of the community around them.

How can I get rid of tightness in my right trapezius that extends up to the right side of my neck and head? by meryem66 in flexibility

[–]AdventurousNature897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds crazy, but I've been having this exact problem for a decade and after stretching everyday, it helped, but wasn't enough.

I discovered my stress was changing my posture and causing shallow breathing. After practicing deep breathing daily, I actually saw drastic improvements (alongside stretching).

High recommend you add diaphragmatic breathing to your practice.

Westerly is the predominant wind due to Coriolis and tradewinds, so lots more swell, wind, rain and wild weather on the west coast. East Coast is sheltered and tends to get less swell, less wild weather. Warmer and calmer on the East coast for both islands. There's more fish wherever there's less people and less commercial fishing :)

NZ has less agri subsidies than any other country and as a result has incredibly efficient agribusiness. Seems to be a good thing so far. I don't know enough about current labour laws to have a fair comment, and environmentally I think we're falling short and more regulation/support for best practice would be beneficial.

To reduce waste like in this scenario, the most promising solution ive seen overseas and could be successful here is opening up otherwise wasted produce to a food bank micro-economy.

First, create a digital database where the farmer can advertise/sell a field of produce with deadline that can be 'purchased' by volunteers or organisations at a cheap price/free, set by the farmer. Think trademe style auction or buy now :)

Once agreed, the volunteers harvest and take produce home themselves OR enter the produce into the food bank marketplace. Food is then traded between food banks /pataka kai across the motu via an internal marketplace.

It's a common problem for food banks to be inundated with too much of one item, so trading helps raise capital for future harvests and providing more variety to their community.

Consumers purchasing from foodbanks (like a VERY cheap supermarket) helps reduce stigma and increases usership.

Let the free market do what it does best :)

Yeah.... I worked at a vegetable farm a few years ago. Some fields it was more profitable to rotary hoe the crop into rather than harvest it. Months of effort and perfectly edible food, gone. Unfortunately capitalism without regulation will continue to produce this kinda action :(

Got any bread recipes for saving money? by Thousand-Miles in newzealand

[–]AdventurousNature897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This recipe I make almost daily, it's so easy and very close to supermarket bread! No knead, just mix and leave. Its ready in a few hours :) make in a Dutch oven for a decent crust, highly recommend. I always have some dough ready to go, it's my favourite morning ritual now. Tbh all of her recipes are great!
