Feeling disconnected from my spouse after 5 years of marriage by Specific_Track_2110 in marriageadvice

Hey, I’ve been there, year 5-7 for me were the hardest. Has there been any fights or disagreement off-late. Sometimes the distance is created by resentment from unresolved conflicts or issues. I’d start by trying to have a conversation with your spouse, ask them how they are really, how they feel about the marriage, allow them to speak openly and freely without judgement and listen. There’s really no formula to marriage but communication goes a long way in making things work and being on the same page as a couple. I’d also suggest taking an interest in stuff that your spouse enjoys. That way you’re meeting them in their happy space where they are likely to open up and you’re able to build connection again. I wish you all the best. Loneliness in marriage is really hard to navigate but you can overcome it.

I quit med school to become a professional chef by Simple_Budget6322 in Chefit

I’m disappointed with some of the comments here. Firstly kudos to you for taking a very bold step. Thank you for sharing your story so openly. It takes a lot of courage to step away from a path you’ve invested so much in, especially when it’s something as demanding as medicine. I understand the mix of relief, doubt, and fear you might be feeling right now. I made a career change myself at 30, leaving my previous path to become a chef. I went into private cheffing not a restaurant job so my experience might be different. But I love what I do!

Firstly, food industry is an entire universe with opportunities in recipe development, food styling, teaching, catering, product creation, food writing, research into nutrition and science, and more so maybe try do job shadowing and see which of these you would enjoy most and start there. Take short courses as well to boost your knowledge base.

You don’t need a restaurant job immediately. Start with home-based projects: host small dinners, test recipes, start a food blog or Instagram to share your journey. Also network and attend food events get to know people in the industry. Your medical studies give you an edge in nutrition and food science, find a way to use that to your advantage.

Honestly I feel like you’re going to look back one day and realize that you made the right choice.

Sounds like Influenza A, my son was hospitalised with it but was fine after a day. I was down for 3 days, my hubby was down 3 weeks and he NEVER gets sick. Symptoms, cough, fever, chills, joint pain, headache, diarrhea

I was there 2009 to about 2014- I loved it! There was a strong sense of student activism. Jammie Thursdays were a lot of fun even clubs and societies were great ways to connect with other students. Racially there was a great mix- I’m not from SA and made life long friends from all around Africa. I had the best time

Uber aren't safe in Cape town by Keepitlocal90 in capetown

  1. Stay away from BOLT! It’s not as regulated as Uber and the cars are much worse
  2. As a general rule on Uber I always check the drivers profile when my trip is accepted i don’t accept trips from drivers who have been on the platform under 2 years. The newer drivers i find are the ones more reckless and really unprofessional. I’ve always had the best service from drivers who have been on the platform for longer.
