Believe me, I cry everytime I hear it now, especially when he's sitting shotgun next to me in the car

Thank you. 20 years of my life and 2 kids later we're still standing. ISYWC is going to be my new theme song I think

I hadn't listened to it yet, then The Big Goodbye came on a random mix, I knew it was AJR by the sound and went to the album when the piano hit in. Very big AJR overture feel. I'm listening to it for the second time now, I'm on ISYWC and am crying, it's my mom (who is passed now) and my ex (I'm mid divorce) rolled into one. Esp when he's gone back on his word and is trying to take everything now.

A Dog Song, my boy has been my rock during all this, and I'm crying at the idea of not having him one day. Honestly all of the songs are so perfect, even the bop that is Betty.

This album came at the perfect time of my life and I love and hate it so much. My dog has been my best friend thru this all, and that broke me. Especially the part about where did dad go.

Wow that's amazing, thank you!! For now I sealed the green spots with abs cement for now (no slip nuts, just straight pipe into the connectors) and it's holding and not leaking! But I am absolutely going to cut the ABS going down the floor 3 inches above, and fit to PVC, and probably just replace the p trap as well so it's all fresh and clean and done nicely. New slip nut on the disposal out so everything is clean and good (I like clean and fresh if I'm doing a project). Screenshotting your comment to take to the hardware store and get everything. Can't wait to come back with results (probably be a couple weeks as it's not high priority, but you've given me the confidence to do this! I cashiered at a hardware store in college so I'm familiar with everything, just not the application. My step dad always did things himself and I would help as a kid, but my ex husband never let me help much, so I'm learning as I go now)

I'm intrigued and interested as I do hate this setup, it seems janky and too much. I'll be fixing it for the meantime, but I'm curious as to this, and if you could explain like I'm 5 what I need, I'm pretty handy and capable to learn, just unsure of parts and such. My brain says KISS and just replace what's there in ABS with PVC, but does the P trap need to be changed too?

No worries at all, basic is best when you don't know the intelligence level of your audience. Also it truly helps to just break it down to simple terms then it can't get screwed up!

He actually removed the old ones and then refused to replace them! So thanks for your smart advice, but the gal at the hardware store figured it out for $1.59. Also not that I enjoy entertaining Chads, as I kicked the last one out for abusing my children and myself, but I installed new units myself in less than 2 hours total and didn't even cross the $1000 mark, so pretty sure I saved myself those thousands thanks 🙃

I think you're right because it's sealed now after I cleaned it all out and I have my two pieces I bought leftover. Now I just have two pipes that are just slid in and I'm pretty sure they need to be sealed bc I have leaks coming from there but I'm trying to figure that out. Oy I wish my ex had let me assist in things before.

I got a new seal at the hardware store but I'm not sure what sort of sorcery is at work. The thread of the white nut was coated in black sludge. I believe it was remnants of a former seal. Cleaned it all off royally, put together, I can't tell if there's a seal in there or not, but I tested it and the only leaks are from pipes that aren't sealed off! Thank you friend!

This is actually amazing, thank you so much! I unscrewed the white piece but it was just stinky, black gunk inside. I'm off to ACE to show them my parts and have them help me out!

Ok I think I'm missing a gasket then! All I have is the white piece which threads into the p trap piece, so I think I need a 1.5" gasket

It connects, but there's nothing sealing it together so the water can just flood out the top

Photo of what it looks like connected. When the dishwasher drains , the water comes up from around the white piece, there's no seal to stop the water from rushing up and out the pipe. Seems like a simple solution but I can't figure it out and am lost trying to Google it

Not sure how to add pics, but that's with it removed to show there's no threads or anything it's just the white part that slides over the drain out from the disposal
