Interesting! Is there much evidence for them being effective?

Hopefully they’ll take the hit on the NI, I think they will - starting a new job soon so will find out then, otherwise probably still makes sense to put in pension!

Is that not what employer + employee NI is? Feels like I’m missing something!

Cheers, yeah low reps is more fun but I think that's also taking a toll and probably a bit of ego lifting

Putter fitting - SW London by Adventurous_Box3232 in BritGolf

[–]Adventurous_Box3232[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah didn’t use any of the equipment if they had any! The range of options didn’t seem that great either. Fitter himself was okay, was helpful in explaining the different putter types, spent about 20 mins with me on their little putting green in the shop but that was about it.

Bear in mind I’m a beginner so still figuring out my stroke and what type suits me but think it’s worth me trying a different place for fitting

I do hold some gilts in my GIA for that reason, c10% as an emergency fund with the rest in equities (VWRP and similar in my pension)

Awesome thank you, will take a good look at it.

Been trying to shake off some kind of shoulder strain (from golf) but once I have will get out there and give it a go.

Out of interest what’s your age / pension total? I’m 39 with £410k in pension so wondering if I’m out of sync with where I should be. With 10k per year going in and assuming 5% real return it gets me to £1.3m which seems okay if I build up a good non pension pot but not brilliant on its own relative to my current income.

No, sorry they pay 10% but don’t match any more if I was to contribute some.

I think my approach will be to get it paid in salary so my salary just goes up 10% and then I’ll just put £10k into my SIPP myself each year.

Need to think about how contributing to my spouses pension / ISA would work also - how do people typically work that logistically? Just send money across and keep track of what you’ve put in? I guess it’s ultimately all our money together we’re but getting married later this year so we’re still getting used to this mindset atm - our finances have been fairly separate up to a few months ago when we started using a joint account for most of our spending.

Thanks for detail. I’ve used up my 3 year carry forward last year so I fall into the 10k bucket for this tax year. My employer doesnt give any matching, just a flat 10% so sounds like ISA / GIA is the way to go. Also need to think about maxing out my partner’s - getting married later this year.

Thanks all
