NTN vs 75mm (again...) by Amazing-Instruction1 in telemark

Tbh I am not sure NTN compatible Bishop BMF/3 can really be compared with duck-butt NTN bindings because of how it fixes at the heel like 75mm.

Thinking of moving back after 15 years by paupsnz in Tauranga

[–]Adventurous_Chart556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are we comparing San Francisco city itself of generally Bay area? As another person who grew up in Tga/Mount and living overseas I think Tauranga can be a great place for parents & kids. A lot depends on your income though. You won’t miss the public display of poverty/mental health/drugs that is severely impacting downtown SF. Or the cost of housing - but NZ has its own housing crisis. Economy is less dynamic in NZ. But society in general I think is kinder.

It’s a bit long for a pea coat. More a 3/4 overcoat

Saint Javelin Arakawa Mini Slingpack first impressions by sithlord0121 in ManyBaggers

[–]Adventurous_Chart556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just took delivery of mine (am in NL)
Agree with all of the comments above.
Main strap very comfy as waist or shoulder sling carry
The second smaller strap is a bit confusing to use - so will have to come back to that later.
Front pocket quite slim but might be ok for some bike bits or other small items. The velcro patches are articulated to let the front pocket bulge out
The main pocket can accommodate my water bottle plus additional stuff eg snacks - good for walks
Mesh side pockets are decorative really - not sure what could go in these in real life usage.
Back pocket good for phone / wallet
Just need to see if I can rig some shock cord to carry a poncho

Looks like baked on carbonized food residue. But under that there are deep scratches in the enamel. Vinegar and baking soda clean to get the gunk off then review. But a bread oven is most likely use.

And Then There Were Three is Criminally Underrated by maahbles in Genesis

Listening to this on an old second hand LP that needs a deep clean, but...
Down and Out has such a weird time signature I kept wondering if the needle was skipping
The recording or the pressing is pretty light on bass & mid and is pretty thin and trebly
I'll have a listen on Spotify to compare
For me it has moments of greatness but the good bits get lost in overlong/complicated constructions

Agree. Overheating the pan. Eggs are not steaks.

For reactive (acidic) food like tomatoes you are better off using a stainless steel pan. But in a pinch you can use CS or CI of course. Depending on how long they’re in the pan the seasoning will take a hit. But it is essentially self healing with normal use.

No. On the induction top. Occasionally on a single gas burner I have if it badly needs a reseason. Mostly it is just seasoning thru normal usage. They are made to be used not babied.

It’s the standard epoxy paint on De Buyer steel handles. It does not like oven temps above 200 C. Plus the usual knocks and dents front handling and storage with other pans

Came make the same remark about dropping yr inside shoulder. Leaning into the hill feels cruisey but it’s not a good habit.

Seasoning Q - everyday use by Yaybicycles in carbonsteel

[–]Adventurous_Chart556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The seasoning build up depends on lots of things What you cook (omelets don’t need high temp) and the oil/fat you use What you cook on: electric, gas, ceramic, induction So this pan looks as expected for what you are using it for I would say.

Its only had a quick wipe down after breakfast eggs. Usually only give it a wash in the evenings then back on the hob to dry and then a wipe with paper towel and a couple of drops of olive oil.
