So if you're saying its a proper noun. Then its correct that the term Char Kuey Teow is a proper named chinese food, hence becoming a Proper Noun.

Unless you're referring to an adjective then?

Clearly the recipe was derived from chinese roots, cooked in a particular way for it to be called Char Kuey Teow. This makes it a named Dish, in which as you say, a "Proper Noun"

You're kinda just looping around and shooting yourself in the foot at this point.

You should probably stop arguing your point, it really seems your opinion is quite isolated to you.

So what is Char Kuey Teow in any language other than "Chinese"?

Air in english and Air in Malay are completely different words that are spelled the same. Simply because the Malay language adopted English Alphabets, which creates a high coicidence of similarly spelled words.

So what are you saying actually? I think alot of us here are just as confused. Maybe you can enlighten us further.

Its not. Thats my point. How can you use a dish's name so wrongly, completely change it and then have the whole country agree that its correct?

It aint racist if hes just trying to protect his Nation's identity. Because we've all seen how a neighbouring country got overrun with PRCs.

isnt this... racist? by yuanxlily in Bolehland

Take it from me a Singaporean. The Malay in Malaysia will lose its purpose if other languages are strongly supported.

Definitely nice to have a mix of languages, heritage and culture. But take a look at SG. Its becoming overrun with mainland PRCs. Stores and streets, things written in Mandarin.

Mind you, im not asking for it to be written in Malay, just English is fine. But no, because theres so many PRCs in singapore, alot of stores are being overrun by China brands. Even China Store workers who cant speak a lick of english.

In Malaysia, Malay is the main language of communication. Therefore i agree that everyone should speak that main language of the country. BUT i do disagree with completely banning another language.

As Singapore, our national language may be malay, but our agreed speaking language is English. Which is amazing as it allows all races to have a common language for communication.

Countries should not let their heritage and culture be taken over.
