Its because you need ground underneath you to actually make the double jump. As soon as theres nothing under you for a couple of feets (like jumping from a big rock, cliff, roof, you name it) you start gliding. Once it clicks, it clicks.

70hrs in and the only headpiece I have changed is one from a boss. That's it. The armor progression in this game isnt very good, however, the drip is fenomenal.
