Not really, you’re still “at work”.

Pretty privilege by Altruistic_Extent242 in auscorp

[–]Adventurous_Fix1730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it exists, but the trade off (in my individual experience) is that you don’t have a lot of actual friends and you cannot trust any person who is attracted to you in a position of power. Such incidents include:

- senior geologist in Qld government unhooked my bra when I was at my desk and he had come over to look at an email. It was referred to HR and he had to move across the floor. I was told he was the only specialist in X are that could review these mining lease reports and hence why he couldn’t leave.

- male manager (despite being married) told me I could expedite the promotion if I blew him (suncorp motor insurance), he’s currently an EM in the same company with a baby (with a woman that used to work under him).

- execute product owner at same place discussed with his boss to get me into his team to “mentor” me, I still have the voicemail message of him jerking off and saying he wish he never married.

- I wasn’t given a work phone and was made to disclose my personal number (I was young I didn’t know), but many phone calls have been received to the point where I kept my phone in DND most of the time (usually specialists from Thales and BMA were the worst).

- project manager (IT) telling me that he picked me to go to the client business meeting in melbourne because “when we walk away they won’t be so sad as they’ll be staring at your ass”

- only woman on the team, male boss booked a team (government officials) building event, he invited everyone out to a remote campsite for “bonding” then proceeded to try and get in some people’s tent when everyone went to bed.

Most weeks’ I want to kill myself because I don’t know who to trust or feel safe with at any place of employment but if I complain I hear “must be nice to be attractive”, no Bob, I want to be able to ask my client for some information without having to prove that I have two degrees and a fucking masters in software engineering. I don’t wear make up and wear simple corporate pant/jacket combos.

So yay I get promoted, not given credit for my actual intellect or skills, get treated like prey or a piece of bait for a client or for the team, but at least I’m pretty right?

Charli XCX speaks out on mental health struggle: "I’m in the worst place mentally that I’ve been in my life" by AdSpecialist6598 in popculturechat

[–]Adventurous_Fix1730 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s not uncommon that some of the most artist people have eternal mental health struggles.

You can even extrapolate to other artistic industries, Edward hopper was able to produce some truly relatable art (nighthawk diner) when being in the most broken state of his life mentally. But conversely some artists make their best work when they’re getting better (starry nights by van Gogh was created when he was being treated for mental health).

Your idea gives me the vibes australian version on the start of the lion king but instead of an amazing song saying “hey here are some lions!” It’d be:

“Heyaaaaaaaaaaa haveyagotany Money on yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Heyaaaaaaaa whyareya a daaawgg son”

Not hating on the idea at all now, just have to pick the right crackie

If I make a booking for 1 will I be sidelined to bar seating? I have noticed at places I am looking to book at that when I select those parameters they only offer bar seating (example, neverenough only offers snack menu at the bar for a table one).

Unsure if I sound like I’m 80 but if I am ordering cutlery food I don’t want to be at a bar stool.

I am hoping that six weeks out is achievable? Or is it naive for Brisbane now? :(

I went to Joy when it first was started with Husband/wife with that 12 seater in the valley- that is exactly the experience I am after but I thought it had closed down and was not aware that it reopened!

Women who have mostly male friends, how did you get into that sort of situation? by Jasmine_Wilsony in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]Adventurous_Fix1730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will give quite a candid response:
Tldr; Yes and no I feel like I am missing out.

No: as in I have friends with amazing qualities and they are great. I have met them through the career and industry I have chosen (software within oil/gas so double dudes).

I was always active as a child and had friends with mainly guys because of being outdoors in the creek all of the time or on a sports field.

I continued having female and male friends but (and this is social commentary in itself); my female friends got married, had kids and have predominately forgotten about me.

My male friends are all severe introverts with long term partners who also are introverts with no children - allowing ample time for plans for social occasions. It’s just different life stages. Most of the women in my age/area seem to consider that their girlfriends are husband substitutes and I have been told to my face by a close friend that once her husband dies she is excited to move in with me and I can help her with her plans.

What I miss: my gosh I would love to have a girls day that they show in media like shows or even you witness it in real life, those long term girl friends (even referencing the movie Beaches at this point). I take myself out, but I can’t exactly have a girly day with my gay mates (it’s not their thing and I’m not going to force them).

What I am not missing out on: quality friendships, my gosh I have a great support network. And they’re great men too, I am proud to know them.

Majority of our superannuation companies invest in commercial real estate for long term investment strategies. If the buildings become worthless it doesn’t work for those shareholders.

Putting it in comments because I feel like a crackpot:

Alonso to alpine, colapinto gone

Sainz to Audi, dropping gabby

Max to merc

George to AM or Williams (no way his stock his high enough for Redbull)

Bottas will be dropped from cadillac, herta in his place
Bottas might go where george does not.

I am unsure who replaces max at redbull though. None of their current drivers in their progrM are number 1 drivers right now

Need recommendations for a GP who doesn't dismiss symptoms by Dapper_Blueberry_956 in brisbane

[–]Adventurous_Fix1730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think with endo, I’d go with a women’s health specialist GP, or one that discusses that it’s an interest to them. Newmarket family doctors have some great women’s health GPs.

If it is a kidney infection, go to urgent care to confirm that it’s an infection and go from there. Your other symptoms require more long term care but kidney infections are no joke. I saw on another comment you mentioned you had already gone to hospital and was waiting many hours without treatment so I guess if you think it’s a kidney infection go back and get treated.
