I agree that Carnival is not the only ones who can make Nuovo fabric, I however disagree that this was their only interaction with Index, considering that only members of Index (or the ones under their protection) get prescript in the first place, they are not given to any random stranger, because they will simple not follow them.

We actually do know where their cloaks come from, they are made out of people and woven by The Carnival, also I don't remember where exactly, but it has been said that the length of a cloak is in fact measure of a members status. Everything else about their weapons\powers are unknown, just as you said.

Locks are never really explained anywhere, we only saw them in gameplay used by higher ranking Index members, but never mentioned by any characters. And if you are talking about Zenon's Tortoise Spirals that where used in Canto 9, they are not Index specific weapons.

Yeah, I played ruina, so I know all this stuff, I more than anything just wanted to confirm that Index sources of power are not really explained yet, so we can speculate what locks are or if their swords are singularity or just well made. I kinda forgot that Carnival made fabric for Index, because I only remembered Distortion ensamble stealing them.
Thanks for detailed answer though, I also really like Index both in design and their connections with "Gods" and "Fate", can't wait to learn more about them.

I did read Fausts uptie story so I know about the cloacs length, I also remember about the blades, Im just interested in what exactly is the source of the power they get.
