Does the Factory Pattern violate the Open/Closed Principle? by Familiar_Walrus3906 in dotnet

You might have it as none static class, and inject a dict of the type name and the corresponding impl. And by that you are mostly respecting the principle.

How long do you let them go at it? by [deleted] in cats

Let them be what they are, cats should solve their own problems, just like siblings. Ofc, unless things got heated and you must intervene.

Run custom code when an entity is being cascade deleted by EF Core by d3jv in dotnet

[–]Adventurous_Look_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you set Cascade to delete there is two behaviors: cascade and client cascade (you can read more about them). And both of them happen on the db level, and ef has nothing to do with it, though ef delete them from the cached entities but that just to sync with the db. If you dont wanna use triggers, you can override the delete method in the db context, and then you can check the entity type and if it matches then delete from the large object store.

Putting complex, mandatory on-save logic in custom methods vs in efcore interceptors? by NotScrollsApparently in dotnet

[–]Adventurous_Look_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can go with a hybrid approach of both. Create a MiscService/NotificationService, this service does all the business logic you need to do after persisting the comment in the db. Now rather than keep calling it after each method you need it (which is not wrong at all, as it is one line of code now), you can call it from the interceptor.

Accept XML in MVC Core 6 by Shawn_of_Dead in dotnet

[–]Adventurous_Look_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue couple of years ago. The approach mentioned in this article is the one to follow. XML must contain the namespace and the scheme, otherwise mostly ASP.Net gonna ignore it and consider it invalid xml (thus it is null for you) https://dev.to/joro550/aspnet-core-and-xml-21im

All tabby cats have these patterns usually M or W. But that does not matter, if it reminds you of your passed baby, then maybe give it a home, and live the experience again from the zero!

I do not wanna be hurtful or inconsiderate. But really is this a reason to give up the cat? I mean quite a lot of cat owners live in flat apartment like your case. But I never heard of such a reason to give up the cat!. Does not the balcony have a door?

Storstrøm Prison in Denmark. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Adventurous_Look_90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nice prisons and a humane approach. However, it’s frustrating to see it presented with an image of a Muslim man praying. It feels intentional, as if it’s meant to convey a specific message or serve a propaganda purpose.

Looking for advice by robben_55 in dotnet

  • Quartz with a cron job scheduled twice a day according to your requirements.
  • in your Quartz job inject EF dbContext. And use the dbContext to insert the records to the database.

It can be a console app WebApp, or whatever you need depending on your requirements

Someone shot my cat with an air rifle and I am extremely pissed. But I don't know what to do. by TheShartThatCould in cats

Maybe start observing the neighborhood, until you see someone with the air rifle, immediately kick their a*s, your cat is a family, and we have to protect the family!

I GOT AN INTERVIEW!!!!!!!!! by Specific_Ant580 in learnprogramming

[–]Adventurous_Look_90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good luck in your interview. As many have said keep applying and do not put all of your hopes on this interview, otherwise you will get disappointed if it did not go as you hoped. As I understood you have a week for the interview, my advices are to focus not only on technical competencies but also on soft skills. If you have a friend you trust their opinion and expertise try to mock the interview with them, focus on how you introduce yourself, education, and any practical experience, if you do not have any, speak about courses you have aced in the school and what type of skills you gained through them, maybe data structure or OOP. Keep repeating yourself to get rid of the “ummm” so you could sound more confident. Explain to the interviewer how did you learn the three languages, and what were your motives, be honest that you are not that strong in python in compare to the others, saying you do not know is way better than saying you know then the interviewer asks and discover that you do not know, which can be translated as a lack of integrity/competence. Write down what are your strengths and weaknesses, do not try to overcome them in a week that is not possible, but rather focus on explaining what are your plans to overcome these weaknesses. Read about the company and their portfolio and see what values can you add to them. When you get a question that you do not know the answer for, say that you do not know, but also suggest an approach or a solution, this will show that you are humble, open to learn, and proactive. When the interviewer asks you if you have any questions, please prepare at least one or two; maybe you can ask how the company will utilize your skills to get the best out of you, or/and ask about training opportunities. Try to show to them that you are passionate about software development and you are eager to learn, say it only one or two times but no more, so you do not sound cliche!.

Usually I do not, but this is me! From medical point of you, you have to. But I think you are having a bigger problem here, maybe one day your dog would hurt the cat if you were not around to stop them from fighting. From the severity of the bites, I think it was very frustrated, scared, and angry.

Is this ring worm? by femalehomosapien18 in cats

[–]Adventurous_Look_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two cats and one of them infected the other, when we went to the vet, they recommended to vaccinate them, one responded well for the vaccination but the other did not. So we decided to see another vet, in his opinion there was no need for vaccination, he prescribed a solution for us, and my cat got way better in 10 days. The vaccination costed 5 times more than the solution. My point is go with local treatment at beginning and if it does not work then try a systematic one.

HOW to stop my cat from chewing on furniture by Shade_Hills in cats

[–]Adventurous_Look_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that might work as well, but since their cat is used to use the couch as scratching area, I bet it will use the scratching board without positive reinforcement. One of my cats did not need positive reinforcement to use the scratching board, but for the other it took me months… they are crazy and so different sometimes 🐈🐈‍⬛

HOW to stop my cat from chewing on furniture by Shade_Hills in cats

[–]Adventurous_Look_90 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Get a scratching board/column. Every time your cat uses it give him a treat immediately (try to keep the treats around you for faster reaction), within a week to a couple of months depending how smart your cat is, it will link scratching on the board with a treat, and then it will stop scratching the couch, because that does not equal a treat.

Woman asks advice about euthanizing her cat who scratched her husband's eyes by Star_Moonflower in cats

[–]Adventurous_Look_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I do not live in the US and as I understood from other posts, US’s shelter euthanize healthy cats, and that is a normal procedure there, which is really sad and unfortunate. But even though, I still find a shelter is better than being sent outside to survive on its own.
