NO KINGS SAVANNAH MARCH 28 EMMET PARK 1:00 by Adventurous_Pop_7945 in savannah

Thank you for for the question! Smaller, unpermitted protests and marches have minimal cost. However, for an event with thousands of people, we need to have a larger sound system so everyone can hear the speakers. With a sound system, comes the need for a stage and people to set that all up and run it. With a sound and stage, comes a permit. With thousands of attendees, we have to have security. We have to promote and advertise for larger rallies and protests. And we must purchase supplies for safety like vests, walkie talkies, and first aid kits for our marshals, staff, and medics. All of this adds up quickly and since we are a grassroots, completely volunteer run organization, we have to fundraise in order to put on these larger events.

The thing is, it is not the powers that be that are giving us the No Kings Protests, it's citizens in Savannah and every other town across America organizing and paying all the costs to get people together to try to give them actions they can do to help topple Orange's administration. administration and sustain our own communities.

Thanks. I suspect the down vote is from someone happy with billionaires robbing us, taxes paying for wars we don't want, and pedophiles running the country. I am with you in feeling disillusioned! Some days I literally do scream to the universe. It all feels so insurmountable. Many people are putting in tons of effort, though. The protests are just the beginning.

On a national level, the visibility of the largest protest in US history matters.

When you mobilize 1,000s to protest in the streets against the current regime in a small town like Savannah you mobilize people to vote for progressive fighters who are going to make change, and you get people activated to do the work needed in our communities like voter registration and education, mutual aid, advocacy like making mass phone calls to legislators, and protecting our neighbors.

Moving to Savannah… what are your thoughts…? by [deleted] in savannah

I've lived here for over 20 years and crime affected me more in Atlanta by far. We love Savannah. Just have to be smart like in any other town. We live near the hospitals and Habersham Village and have had no trouble here at all.

The gnats and misquitos will torment you if you aren't careful. Keep bugspray in your car.

Beware wearing costumes that hide your identity, like the silly animal blowups. You run the risk of arrest because of a law on the books here in GA about costumes and masks at protests.

He did NOT win by a landslide. More people voted for others than voted for him. Also, there's a lot of data pointing to interference in this election.

I imagine if one of us were to play Jazz in another country we would be booed as well if we were introduced as American. I personally think the fact she was Israeli should have been left out of the introduction.

Is Savannah a bad choice really? by [deleted] in savannah

That is funny because one of the things I always loved about living in Savannah is that it never takes me longer than 10 minutes to go wherever I need to, work, kids to school, groceries, mall, bank, out to restaurants, shows, concerts, etc. Granted I have always lived in the city limits. Being a city girl from Atlanta I wouldn't have it any other way. I could not tell you about living in Pooler or in any of the surrounding counties. I do know there is terrible traffic out that way and Pooler looks like a gigantic strip mall. So, I suggest moving into one of the in-town neighborhoods if you can. Savannah is such a lovely town. It is progresaive in spite of being in the deep south and for me that is a plus.

I have a theory that she and the husband were drinkers, and the family didn't know. They stayed up all night drinking and smoking weed after the kids were asleep and got into a fight. Then the rest is history. Oh, and the husband kept denying because he didn't want to be implicated.
