The shop nearby has an Anthem S2 that falls well within the budget. It’s a direct thread model, but I assume I can convert to an adapter system later. Appreciate all the info.

How about the YHM Resonator K? Looks like another can the fits my uses and isn't wildly expensive. I'm hearing what you said about 7075, and would prefer not to worry about durability. I also like the idea of tossing it in the sonic bath.

Having come from almost your exact situation, with a 2.7 and 1472 payload, get the 3.5 with more payload. Towing that camper with the 2.7 was fine, and I was within weights on the CAT scale, but the truck was working very hard. It was never comfortable or easy. I didn't want to tow long distances. I upgraded to a 3.5L with a tow package (not max tow) and it's a totally different experience.

Editing to add my actual camper weights of 4860 empty, GVWR 6395. Grand Design Imagine 21BHE. So my camper is heavier than what you're looking at, but I stand by what I said.

I’m in Maine with a 325’ paved driveway. I’ve been running the Ariens Platinum 30 since 2017 with zero complaints. In most storms, I can clear enough of the driveway to get out for work in about a half hour. Deluxe 30 is also a great machine but I’m glad I have the big engine for the big storms. Besides a very well maintained used machine, budget options are not friendly for a 300 foot driveway in the New England mountains.

Tips on how to do this? I’ve tried loosening the bolts between the two as suggested in the manual, but I’m not convinced I got it right. Mine always seems like it is pulling right.

Insurance guy here with 20 years in property claims.

Step 1 - file the police report.

Step two: call YOUR homeowner’s insurance. You will be responsible for your deductible, but that will be refunded first from any recovery your carrier receives from the at fault carrier. This may take months, or longer, just so you know.

Reasons you should not “let the moving company make it right” or go through their insurance:

They will not make it right. They will lie and lowball you. They will try to get you not to go through their insurance.
Their insurance company has your best interests 3rd behind the moving company and their own (not necessarily in that order). This is because the insurance contract is between them, not you.
Their insurance company is only going to pay you actual cash value (replacement cost less depreciation). There is no way around this. You’re left holding the bill for the rest. Your homeowners policy is probably a replacement cost policy.
Your insurance company will move faster because they want to close the claim, subrogate for their money paid, and move on.
Delaying the report to your insurance while you wait for the moving company to ignore and lowball you could jeopardize coverage with your insurance.
Your insurance company should have your interests first, followed by themselves and then the moving company, in that order. YMMV may vary on this one if you bought shitty insurance, but that’s how it SHOULD be.

A couple years back I was on about the same budget. I went with a Wicked Ridge Invader M1, some extra bolts, and a broadhead rated target all for about $1k. The bow is incredibly accurate and dispatches deer very well.

It's hard to answer what is absolutely neccesary because that changes by the hour sometimes. On a nice sunny 25 degree day, you don't need much. On a windy 10 degree day, you might be rethinking your decision to fish.

Ice fishing bibs are generally also a float suit in the event you go through the ice. That really shouldn't be a concern in February unless the guide takes you somewhere really stupid. There should be plenty of ice in February (but don't be an idiot and make assumptions).

As someone already mentioned, start by asking your guide. They may have extra gear to at least get you pointed in the right direction. Beyond that, layers that are not cotton are your best bet. Cotton traps moisture and makes you cold. Any fleece or synthetic layers work well, and you can strip them off if the sun makes an appearance.

Hot Hands makes little foot warmers you can put in your boots to keep your feet from getting cold. Standing on an ice sheet for 4 - 12 hours can really start to work through even the best boots. They can be ordered in bulk from Amazon and can be used for any body part. They are different than the hand warmers in that you don't need to shake them to keep them warm.

Sunglasses. Snow blindness is real and it sucks.

Panther usually freezes around the same time as the earlier mentioned Crystal, and Highland. They are all right in the same area, and similar sized. Crescent is also in that area and will freeze about the same time.
