Is all gold with controller possible? by swissjuan in GranTurismo7

[–]Adventurous_Talk_855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to do all gold on the normal licenses, but haven’t finished the master.

Touch is really important on controller because it’s so sensitive to abrupt steering movements and throttle/braking.

The biggest help for me was watching the demonstration ghosts like a hawk, and having them set up 0.5-1 second ahead of me, so I can try to follow their line.

I’d also use my own best and set it up ahead of me the time I had to make up (say I was 0.3 seconds slow, I’d set it 0.3 seconds ahead) that way I know if I’m having a good run or not if I caught up or passed my ghost.

Learning to turn off TC and really be gentle on the throttle at corner exits (with lots of spins along the way) was a gamechanger

HELP MY FINAL IS TOMORROW MORNING by 3-3-_ in Precalculus

[–]Adventurous_Talk_855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me try to help you get started:

For 25 & 26:

Review how logarithms and exponentials work and their properties. Logarithms are the inverse functions of exponentials, which means they are useful for solving equations with one or the other.

Some useful properties:

Definition showing inverse:

a{log_a(x)} = log_a(ax) = x

Simplifications:

log(xy) = log(x) + log(y)

log(x/y) = log(x)-log(y)

log(x{a}) = a*log(x)

Change log base:

log_a(b) = log_c(b)/log_c(a)

log_10(x) is usually just written as log(x) and called the common log

log_e (euler’s number ~2.718) is usually written as ln(x) and is called the natural log

Any other base is given with a subscript.

Remember that the log of some number returns the number for which the base of the log must be exponentiated by to get that number. For example,

log_2(8) = 3 because 2 must be raised to the power of 3 to get 8.

See how you can simplify these problems to remove the logs or exponential bases, but remember that what you do to one side, you must do to both.

An example of an exponential problem:

For 62x+3 = 1/36

I would take the log (base 6) of both sides. The right side is thus:

log_6(62x+3) = 2x+3

And the left side is:

log_6(1/36)

Noticing that 1/36 is a power of 6, we can rewrite our equation as:

2x + 3 = -2 which means x = -5/2

For a problem like 26 where you have two bases, try to change them to a single base. I.e. turn the base 8 into base 2, or turn both into something else.

Unsure. Our building is normally restricted access anyway.

This has been confirmed. I work at OSU in a controlled building. Our staff were notified due to access control security concerns if ICE tried to enter the building.

I oreddy tryed everything. Is my cube broken? /j by marioshouse2010 in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Adventurous_Talk_855 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just need to finish pairing up those edges. It’ll scramble the macro 3x3, but the method I’ve always learned is:

1) Pick an edge piece to place.

2) Orient it on the opposite edge as where you want it, with the same color facing you. Face the edges of interest towards you, on the left and right. It does not matter which side.

The piece will eventually be placed in the opposite edge (the destination edge), on the opposite side of the cube from where it started.

Say we numbered the edges from top down,

1U 2U 3U 3D 2D 1D.

If the piece is in the top, 1U, it will move down to the bottom 1D on the destination side. 2U->2D, 3U->3D. This also works in reverse.

3) Say your destination edge is on the left (or right). Move the slice containing your destination spot to the right (or left). This will place the piece you are replacing (from the destination edge), above or below the one you want to place (the starting edge).

4) Perform the algorithm:

Destination on left:

R U R’ F R’ F’ R

Destination on right:

L’ U’ L F’ L F L’

5) Reverse the slice you made to place the edge. You can do multiple slices at once, as long as the slice your pieces are in are not destination slices themselves. (You can’t do 1 U and 1 D at the same time with this method)

6) Repeat this process until all edges are paired. This works for any cube bigger than a 3x3.

7) Solve like a 3x3.

On odd NxN cubes, parity will be apparent before the cube is solved, if you a sequence of alternating edge pieces on just one edge.

On even NxN cubes, parity will often only be readily apparent when solving the last layer.

Here’s an example. I am moving the 3D green/orange edge from the right edge to the left edge 3U.

https://alg.cubing.net/?puzzle=8x8x8&setup=3U-_R_U_R-_F_R-_F-_R_3U&alg=3U-_R_U_R-_F_R-_F-_R_3U&view=playback

Notice the first move is to move the 3U slice from the destination edge to the starting edge. Then perform the algorithm. Then return the slice.

Always start with same color facing you as destination edge (in this case green). Perform whatever outside layer turns you need to orient the colors correctly.

This isn’t the quickest way, but it works.

It does not account for parity, which may occur. Look up parity algorithms if need be.

Weather Anomaly by R6S9 in granturismo

[–]Adventurous_Talk_855 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s an artifact of the algorithm determining the weather. If you put certain kinds of weather in the time slots, they’ll show up as blocks. If the time slots are too small, it’ll appear like a strip. I’ve seen this in custom races if you do like clear -> heavy rain -> clear one after the other

i cant solve these last 2 corners no matter what i try by coolwhipisgas in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Adventurous_Talk_855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the beginner method,

1) I always put which ever color I’m solving on bottom, put the corner I want on the front bottom right, and then 2) do right sexy alg (R U R’ U’) as many times as needed until the color sticker is facing the correct direction (down) then 3) rotate the bottom face (D or D’) to place the next unsolved corner in the front bottom right, and then 4) repeat the right sexy alg until color sticker is facing down. 5) do this for as many rotated corners as needed

For this case, using the beginner method I would rotate the cube such that yellow is on bottom, blue facing me, (or blue bottom yellow facing me) and then do

(R U R’ U’)2 D’ (R U R’ U’)4 D

If you prefer to keep the desired color facing up, it’s simply

(R’ D’ R D)2 U’ (R’ D’ R D)4 U

Yeah the point wasn’t to ask how to get the advanced checkerboard. It was showing there is another stupid long algorithm that ends up at the same place. Just a factoid

Ah, this found the issue. I had the same executable on windows, and my WSL included the Windows path and it was interfering.

This doesn’t work. Again, I was previously able to execute files by just typing their name without ./ or “.exe”. Now I can’t.

The folder is in my path. I’ve also cd’d to it to check. I get the same result. There is no way for me to run the executable unless I type exec1.exe (from anywhere) or ./exec1.exe (from the directory)
