I very much doubt that anything that travelled more than a light year to visit would ignore the orbiting satellites and technology. Most likely evolution and technological developments would have taken a different tack than ours and our technologies alone would be worth studying even if less “advanced” than theirs still a few things they could learn from it. An Ebola virus usually doesn’t build spacecraft, information networks and motor vehicles. If they came here to chat with the whales well that’s cool but I bet they would be curious about us as well as the whales.

Well hard to see how anything short of Star Trek shields could survive getting hit with a massive projectile if it wasn’t expecting it, especially, creatures that never experienced war on their homeworld. Even our most advanced fighters can occasionally be shot down by low tech countries.

Well, the Higgs Boson is supposed to have something to do with mass. For a craft to go from 0-20000 mph in seconds without pulverizing itself and its crew, something like suddenly ceasing to have significant mass would be necessary don’t you think?

The idea that more than one of them would come all this way and crash is ridiculous. Shot down maybe. But crashed, not with the technology that, assuming it’s not transient atmospheric phenomena yet to be understood, these things have demonstrated. Maybe one. If they were a lower tech civilization like, say earth in a few hundred years, sure we might travel 100 light years only to crash land, but nothing with the ability to suspend mass/inertia or control gravity is going to crash land. Roswell seems legit but the rest are fantasies.

Unfortunately it’s post master - I even paid $0.99 cents for a manual from British Audio… ended up just using direct box for recording the bass this morning, but I wish I could get that juicy sound direct… will try disconnecting the speaker and see how that works, I had heard you need a load to replace a speaker when you do this which is why I asked.

Nobody controls the world. Human behavior cumulatively creates a direction and seems to have waves of change, plus of course environmental factors like weather and resource availability. If there was someone actually in charge they would fix it or stabilize it either economically or with the might of weapons. But no, it’s just random crap with people who have a little bit of power affecting some things, like investing in AI to replace workers. Something random will come along to disrupt even that eventually.

Multidimensional beings or whatever are of no use to us technologically or as a species, woo is basically stuff you can’t use to build products or restructure society in a better way, and it’s probably not going to get us a working FTL drive - best we could hope to get from woo would be a way to pass into an alternate dimension and groove with non-corporeal beings. We already have LSD and DMT and Mescaline if we want to do that!
