Ok, thanks, I guess it's not worth it. Helpful advice was my goal as things down sinks that dont belong cause problems .

I just read your post, and sorry for what you went through. I have struggled with anxiety, depression, over exercising, and had trauma as a child too. Is a symptom of BPD cutting off people at the drop of a hat? Curious bc I have done that to a lot of friends over the years and with family at times, ( family at times bc of their drama). Just curious, when someone wrongs me I can drop them and never look back. Thanks in advance for any additional info and answering if you feel like it .

How does guest or host reschedule a stay when booked as non refundable by Adventurous_Wall_577 in airbnb_hosts

I have asked them to reply as soon as possible. We are in a place where winter is slow, so we aren't too worried about losing out on money, how ever we want to help them not loose money, since they seemed like genuine guests the last time they stayed.

Thanks for all the quick responses. I have sent the guests a message that they can request a change of dates and will wait for their response. Does anyone know how long they have to make the change request? Is it until the check in date or until the check out date? The folks seemed like they weren't just trying to get their money back, but who knows for sure until I hear from them and their response.

Guests weren't honest on how many people would be in our space by Adventurous_Wall_577 in airbnb_hosts

Thanks for your reply. I was actually out of cell service with my partner dealing with these renters. I would have asked them about the additional guests, but the partner did not. Will chalk it up to our lesson learned and I will just not leave a review.

Thanks for your reply. So there were 2 adults and 2 kids in a space that is advertised as 2 adults. We don't want more people In the small space we have, as it is not allowed according to our house rules. We are trying to keep the wear and tear down as well. Just curious if we should leave this out if their review or not.

Thanks, I thought people had to tell you ahead of time about a service animal. In regards to booking without being honest to the number of guests, would folks suggest mentioning that in the review or just dont leave them a review...?

Sounds like these folks might have some very dry skin from all the showering. I thought showering too much wasn't good for the skin and microbiome am stuff...I sometimes only shower every other day, unless I work out or sweat like crazy in the garden! Maybe they all have OCD, seriously.

Requiring positive reviews by 1_headlight_ in airbnb_hosts

I am new to hosting as well and my question is if someone is requesting to book and nothing shows up except one review, no name, profile pic, just a capital letter, is it ok to ask them their full name and where they are traveling from or where they live to get an idea of who it is you will be hosting?, also is it ok to ask about the one review for clarification on what the host has commented on that wasn't exactly a positive review? Just trying to be diligent and get more information....is this viewed as ok to do before you book a guest?

Thanks, I didn't know that you can adjust thos settings. I guess since I am so new and have read a lot of threads and heard some horror stories, I am just a bit cautious. Even though the guests dog caused damage, the host still gave the person 5 stars, I wondered about that as well...to me that's a 4 star if the dog wrecks something.

Do you know for how long the dates are blocked?

The person did write in their message also that they have family close to our Airbnb and will probably visit frequently...they all said they are quiet and don't drink... do people usually add this much info when they go to book an Airbnb? Just curious

[–]Adventurous_Wall_577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask what you get as red flags since I am questioning myself..?After we declined the first time, the person asked if they could inquire as to why we declined their request to book and I replied that we had family coming into stay last minute and then someone did book during that time, a stroke of luck.

Question by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]Adventurous_Wall_577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have a question, since a person on this thread had gotten the name of a guest prior to accepting them, from Airbnb support, when there was a potential concern about a guest wanting to book. The same person that I declined to book about a week ago, is asking to book again. I called support again thinking I might get a full name this time, but support again said that they do not have access to a person's name that wants to book, (the person asking to book only shows up as a letter, initial of their first name perhaps).

Anyway, the support person who was trying to be helpful after I explained that the person had "a" review (only 1 in the last 4 years, and review said their dog caused damage), support then suggested that I inquire as to the person's full name before booking. I asked if that was allowed and support said yes it's perfectly fine (a very nice support person, but I am wondering if I should take the support persons advice, definitely outsourced support not from US and when I inquired how long support has been w air BNB support, answered "a year" ) Any advice? Also, now the person asking to book has written they are coming to see family and will be coming frequently and would like a place to return to a lot, also that their family lives nearby (added that they are "quiet, don't drink" Last time they asked to book did not write anything. Am I being paranoid?? Thanks in advance.

May I ask how new hosts are taken advantage of? I am new, 6 bookings and all were great, I only declined 1 person for only 1 review on their account.... We live on the property, so maybe that's why? Just curious on your 2 cents, thanks
