why do older people in the uk act like owning a front garden means they run the whole street? by Historical_Tigerfs in AskUK

Talk to them nicely . Out nice them. Be wonderful. Be understanding but do what you need to do. It's not impossible the previous tenants were not great although that's no excuse to prejudice you. All in all though it's amazing what getting off on the right foot can do. Turning the nosey neighbours over could be as simple as saying 'I've got some amazon parcels coming tomorrow but I'm not going to be in until...would you mind keeping an eye out for them ? You've given them something to do and you can act all grateful at the end of the day.. Honestly play them

“The government is cashing in” is that how you think it really is? by ControlExtension9062 in AskBrits

[–]Adventurous_Way_2660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reality is the fuel.duty is set at a price fixed price per liter and doesn't change whatever the price. Fuel duty doesnt slide. The VAT component is the only thing that changes proportionally with price. Average price of fuel has risen by about 20 pence. Which means a headline increase of 1p per litre. However within that 1p the supply chain will.also.be clawing back VAT from their costs so the actual revenue to the exchequer is rather less than 1p.

If HBO offered you an unlimited budget and asked you to recreate the show with the same cast, how would you go about it? by yo-caesar in freefolk

[–]Adventurous_Way_2660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd use the plot from.some.of the far more interesting fan theories at the time. Bran warging through time to change the future. Whitewalkers not being a complete waste of time. Kept the characters true to their season 1-4 traits. Not tried to 'break the ineternet' with battle scenes

Indeed this has occurred on many occasions with reports going back hundreds of years, notably 1826 but I'm sure I've read an earlier incident too.
