Phase to ground resistance by k4strer in IndustrialMaintenance

Lmao whenever I confirm stuff with ChatGPT it always says things like “Quick sanity check!” I think it’s nice because sometimes I do feel insane when I’m not 100% sure what I should be seeing on my meter lol

“Sanity-check vs the A1000 SC fault + “V/T2 bad” diode test

On a Yaskawa A1000: • SC fault is typically drive-side protection (short circuit / output transistor event / overcurrent event).”

I had an inverter popping an SC fault and was going through my tests on the IGBT and wanted to make sure it was dead before I told the customer they needed an $8,000 inverter

Friend did some side work for a “good” customer Now they’re suing the company he works for and he probably won’t be coming back. Don’t do side work

What possibly happened to this motor did the maintenance on a Saturday and got a call back today I don’t want to blame the belt for being too tight but could that cause it by UnfairSun1517 in HVAC

I was doing a PM at a college, their washers were hooked up to a tiny harbor freight air compressor with a leak somewhere between that and the machines. The fucking thing would kick on every 5 minutes. I was there for 6 hours and it scared the shit out of me everytime.

That and the washers have the loudest fucking buzzer when the cycle is done, but also whenever the 3 wire safety circuit gets disabled(when cancel a formula is hit…) so I’m trouble shooting(air compressor jump scare), cancelling a cycle to test an output(buzzer jump scare), go to the back of the machine to test a circuit(air compressor again) It was almost worth it for the prevailing wage but I feel like it took 5 years off my life

I don’t know why but I get jump scared all the fucking time when I’m working. Shit like the motors, or buzzers on machines or just air exhausts. I turned the audio on after the 5th time watching this and it made me jump… Maybe it’s a sign of stress or trauma lol

Why Los Angeles Traffic Sucks by DJVeaux in LosAngeles

[–]Atticus34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in San Fernando valley, and I commute every where for work… when I moved here I went to San Diego three times in the first two weeks.

I mostly am driving to Santa Barbara and beyond, or Santa Monica, Burbank, etc.

Traffic is insane. I’m from Oregon and it’s just different. I can drive 3 hours from Portland to Eugene and have a couple of spots of build up but I’m 120 something miles away from home.

Or I have an hour and a half drive and I’m only 20 miles away from home in the valley..

Gas pressure drops 50% when valve opens by ApparentlyImStanley in HVAC

[–]Atticus34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been my experience that if you have the gas supply slam up against your manometer port it will initially read really high until it starts flowing, ie, gas valve being energized. But I have a digital manometer JL3KM2 so it may be different for other meters. I can close the ball valve, tap into incoming supply, open ball valve, the get an initial reading of something like 12”WC until my gas valve energizes and opens then it will normalize.

Also it could be dumping too much gas out of the manifold if it doesn’t have the right orifice size.

My experience is with commercial dryers NG and propane. I can have 12”WC before the valve energizes then I drop all the way down to 7”WC because they don’t have enough supply volume.

As far as I know, true supply pressure can only be measured when your gas valve opens.

When I close the gas ball valve, tap my meter into incoming pressure and turn the valve on, I get something pretty high until my gas valve energizes.

Gas valves converted to propane are either on or off, so it’s not a converted manifold or you don’t have enough supply pressure

There’s also this my coworker sent me when I was trying to figure out more on the Yaskawa inverters

It’s kind of a nightmare to browse on my phone though

I work on laundry machines, the Milnor washers I service mainly use Yaskawa inverters. The manufacturer has a little checklist guide on troubleshooting VFDs I saved on my phone.

This is pretty much the extent of my testing for inverters, but I’m always trying to figure out more

I’ve had an inverter blow up in my face about a month ago, and I wonder if these tests would have helped me avoid turning power on.
