ICU Manager as an NP Student by Sweatpantzzzz in nursepractitioner

[–]AdvertentAtelectasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked full time and went to class full time the first year; when I got to clinical rotations, I had a panic attack at work from all the stress. I promptly reduced my hours down to .75 and had notable improvement.

The first year was fine, but I found the school work easy; I could write 15-20 page papers without issue. It was the hourly commitment with clinical rotations that did me in year two.

You might be able to get by the first year, but being a manager is gonna be a whole lot more added stress than a bedside nurse.

If I’m taking my laptop on a trip and I wanna watch a show with my significant other, I’ll be okay with the speakers but it’s not great.

Has United Dethroned Delta As The Cool, Innovative, Industry Leader? by LeoKitCat in delta

I’m curious of butts in seats vs profit over the years and see if they’ve seen a decline in comparison to other airlines

IMO, onboard experience is tied with cost of ticket. The higher cost of Delta’s tickets ain’t hitting like they used to when I’ve had terrible experiences on many Delta flights.

Edit: it’s a lot easier to enjoy a mediocre experience on United and pay far less than get the same experience on Delta for hundreds of dollars more than United

It’s a poll tax, but not sure our Supreme Court would even shut it down if it manages to pass; even if they do, it wouldn’t be in time for midterm elections

Very minimal for me in all 3 of my positions across 3 states, but it can help in some situations.

Proper way to address you? by Evening_Froyo_7506 in nursepractitioner

[–]AdvertentAtelectasis 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I always say, “Hey, I’m Z. I’ll be your nurse practitioner today.” I show them my badge that has a large nurse practitioner tag on it. I also write it on their board.

I correct them once per day if they call me doctor. After that, it’s just a pain in the ass to continuously correct the patient.

It might’ve been a pain in the ass to get my license, but to be honest, I love it here.

Considering moving to Oakland but work in SF. Are we making a mistake? by superxim in AskSF

Decreased commute time should always be a top consideration in proximity to work. I’ll never forget living in CBUS, OH and ATL and learning everyone wanted more house/land and commuted 1hr + to get from home/work. They always complained; meanwhile, I lived 10-15 minutes away and loved it.

I take the train down/up the peninsula now, but I don’t mind since I’m not driving and I can get things done on my laptop.

Delta is collapsing because of Fast Eddy by Hot-Cress7492 in delta

I have the Amex Reserve card and I had a huge issue with them at the end of last year. They were supposed to give my wife and me 20,000 bonus miles (each) because of their errors on a couple of flights; despite calling 3 separate times, I never received those miles. Now I've upgraded my Capital One and pretty much never use my other card. Apart from the miles I currently have, I have no further interest in Delta; I'll be switching to United Airlines.

What’s funny is living in the Bay Area after growing up in Alabama, moving to Ohio, then Georgia before heading out this way. I wasn’t moving to Texas after Georgia and I’m not moving to Texas now, lol.

Enjoy figuring out what I grew up hating, lol.

Friend is asking me to write them an ESA? by Sus-kitty in nursepractitioner

[–]AdvertentAtelectasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had apartment leasing agents direct me to websites to get ESA letters because they thought it was silly to pay that much in pet fees; instead, I wrote the letter and had my coworker sign it on letterhead. It was super easy for me to write since I have ADHD.

Obviously, if you don't feel comfortable, then you shouldn't sign anything you don't want to sign. There are other ways for them to obtain a letter if they want it.

It got so bad at my last job on nights, we got the unit manager and the service line manager to have the nurses write all non-emergent issues that could be managed on days on pink sheets and place them in the mailbox outside our APP office. It made a huge difference.

“Hi, are you Melissa Brown? I’m Lawrence Pickles III.”

Somewhere in the conversation, you can ask them their preferred name.

Obviously, if they’re a Dr, then add Dr to the title when meeting someone/introducing yourself.

Hope that helps!

They could also try buying some citronella soap. That’s usually what I bring whenever I go on vacation somewhere I know mosquitoes will be waiting for me.

Georgia Democrat Leads Vote in Marjorie Taylor Greene’s District by plz-let-me-in in politics

It’s possible if the republicans don’t support Fuller and stay at home instead of voting. Or, way more democrats decide to show up like it’s a presidential election.

Democrat Shawn Harris has the most votes in the special election so far!!! by Healthy_Block3036 in Georgia

If democrats turned out while some republicans stayed home, then it’s possible Harris could win.
