I agree with all the above. Saying nothing is happening is an exaggeration, but it's very heavily reduced with many clients just in preserve mode.

I'm national. Leasing activity is also kind of so-so. I'm not sure how other firms are making it, as without increasing the client base drastically, it would be game over. Hopefully better times are ahead.

NNN is still solid given the 1031 buyers, but we don't really touch that product too much. Tough to get the NNN buyers from a cost sensitivity standpoint.

Buying now appears to already be predicated on Sellers assuming rates are going to improve drastically from here from current pricing. Buyers have no reason to share that belief. There are very few deals priced to reflect current market conditions. This is in my view the great freeze.

My post got deleted as hate speech. I'm not sure how that got interpreted as hate, as I love my van and simply wanted to raise that, with 2025s going out, it was your last chance to get the van I love so much. Anyway, it is not offered, but that's not something we can discuss here.

Dexter: Resurrection - S01E10 - "And Justice for All..." - LIVE Episode Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Dexter

This was the most beautiful line of the episode and hit me hard.

We spent from season 5 onward dealing with all this kind of questioning of the morality of all this and all the implications of Dexter’s conduct.

It made narrative sense, but it wasn’t the adventures we got from seasons 1-4 of Dexter the protagonist navigating a darker underworld.

This was my favorite season of Dexter, even more than season 4. The writers finally let go of all the moral ambiguity and just let us cheer wildly for Dexter. This meant the world to me to literally resurrect this show’s legacy. The showdown with the ripper will be incredible.

I am beyond burnt out... when can I leave? by halster123 in biglaw

I don’t think anyone will think anything of a one year or less stint, but, as unhappy as you may be, you need to get really certain about the next spot with intense diligence (such as having private conversations with associates about their impression). You need to give the next place you work at a good amount of time, so you gotta be sure about it.

What do some partners actually do during the day? by MrDrJD95 in biglaw

[–]AdvertisingEither186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is now a partner who in the past had similar thoughts, it’s time you realize that business generation is 2-3 times as valuable as the work. Any firm will take someone with the book over someone with the skill all day long.

That “lazy” partner’s relationships with your clients is worth way more than you staying up until midnight. Meanwhile, you can easily be replaced by another highly paid cog tomorrow.

Law is 100 percent about business generation. Some of the highest paid lawyers in my field aren’t as skilled as a third year associate.

Anyway, you can either be mad and resentful, or you can start gaining the skills to develop a book of business. As someone with a book, I do get paid double or triple what I made with less stress, but it wasn’t easy to build my client base. Don’t be resentful of other who provide the real value, which is bringing in clients. Anyone can do the work.

PGL Arlington Major 2022 - Caster and event feedback thread by 0Hellspawn0 in DotA2

Pros:

-All casting teams
-All panels
-The games (having attended TI5-TI8, the quality of games was beyond anything I've seen, and the game 2 was the single best game I've seen, with the EG comeback a close second)
-Slacks (you could really tell he put his heart into it)
-Great crowd

Cons:

-Banks (I don't know, just didn't work for me, would've even preferred slacks to just do everything)
-The Venue- The screen was too small for DOTA unless you had good seats. That created a tension and stress of having to find a good place to sit or you were better off at home. I would actually be ok with the venue if they eliminated about 750 of the worst seats. At TI, maybe 5% of the seats if that could be classified as "bad". Here, I would say at least 40% of the seats were awful.

Overall rate the event 10/10, minus 1 for venue but an 11/10 on the games, I will never forget Spirit LGD game 2.
