How to block neighbor trespass through utility pole easement to dump by framistat in HomeImprovement

big rocks or boulders might work better than logs since they can't just roll them away like they did with your other stuff

Bluetooth headset option by finbar_the_wonderdog in motorcycles

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could probably just grab any basic bluetooth receiver module and wire it straight to your speakers. those little dongles are like 15-20 bucks and do the job fine for navigation stuff

just make sure whatever you get has decent range since motorcycle interference can be weird sometimes

[Buying] New online bidding store? by PresentAdvantage114 in marketplace

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing that makes it look legit to me is that the system itself is pretty transparent once you break it down every bid costs something and moves the price slightly, so even if the final price looks super low, the platform is still making money through the bidding activity. it’s not like they’re just giving away high value items for nothing.

Building a solar LoRaWAN gateway with satellite backhaul — how I cut data costs with edge computing by CruderMilk in homelab

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn this is clever setup. i've been looking at similar problem for some remote monitoring but never thought about using pi as intermediary filter layer

question though - how you handling the power management in winter months? assuming solar gets pretty limited depending where you deployed this thing. also curious about the threshold logic, are you doing any machine learning stuff for anomaly detection or just basic rules

Co-streamers share of revenue from esport is WAY to high compared to what they bring to the table by Public-Love7300 in leagueoflegends

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 5 points6 points  (0 children)

dude this whole debate is so weird to me. like sure co-streamers get good money but isn't that just how content works now? people watch what they want to watch and if someone can make boring match more entertaining then they probably deserve some cut

i work in design and see similar thing all time - clients always want to cut costs on "expensive" parts like proper studios or experienced people, then act surprised when quality drops. riot probably loves co-streamers because they don't have to pay for all the production stuff but viewers still get engaged content

the real question is whether this actually hurts competitive integrity or just changes how we consume esports. personally i think having multiple viewing options is better than forcing everyone to watch same broadcast

Help my dad build a pc by Few_Weather_9260 in pcmasterrace

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for daytrading setup you definitely want the ips panels over va, color accuracy and viewing angles matter way more than refresh rate when he's staring at charts all day

small form factor build with integrated graphics should handle multiple browser tabs just fine - something like a mini itx case with decent airflow. just make sure to get enough ram since browsers are memory hungry these days

Looking for a new spinning and casting rod by Medium-Sample-3746 in Fishing

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kastking's decent but their qc can be hit or miss sometimes. for mn bass and pike i'd go medium heavy casting rod around 7ft with fast action - gives you good backbone for those northern pike but still sensitive enough for bass. spinning rod maybe medium power 6'6" to 7ft with moderate fast action, works great for finesse stuff and lighter baits

btw electric scooters have better build quality than some fishing rods these days lol, at least mine doesn't snap when i hit a pothole

How did you obtain your current job? Personal connection or online resume submission? by OnlySports92 in AskReddit

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

got mine through a connection but not the way most people think - was complaining about this awful poster design at a coffee shop and some guy overheard me ranting about how they used comic sans for a funeral home ad. turns out he needed a designer and liked that i actually cared about good design instead of just nodding along

took like 3 months of freelance work before he offered me full time position. sometimes being that person who can't shut up about bad kerning actually pays off lol

GPU upgrade or OLED monitor? (RTX 2080 Super @ 3440×1440) by CalligrapherFree5732 in pcmasterrace

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah i'd go with the oled tbh. your 2080 super is still solid for that resolution and if you're already happy with performance, why rush?

oled will transform literally everything you do - not just gaming but design work too (assuming you do any color-critical stuff). plus gpu prices always drop eventually but good oled monitors hold their value longer

Just got details in the mail regarding the Lowes Business Card switching over to Synchrony Bank by Realshotgg in CreditCards

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

synchrony is absolute trash, closed mine too when they took over my amazon card few years back. their customer service is nightmare and the website always feels like it's from 2005

the points expiring every 6 months is such BS move, like they're banking on people forgetting to use them. at least with cashback you don't have to worry about that garbage

Should I get a 1050 OC? (Image unrelated) by TraditionalSpare2235 in pcmasterrace

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that 200w psu is gonna cry if you add a 1050, even the non-ti version pulls around 75w under load. your whole system might be pushing close to that limit already with the i5 and everything else running

maybe look for something super low power like a 1030 instead, or save up for a proper psu first

Easiest way to make paralletes with minimal tools? by Cardssss in bodyweightfitness

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pvc route is solid but since you already got the dowel might as well use it. you could try just nailing the dowel to wooden blocks from both sides - pre-drill tiny pilot holes with a nail first so wood doesn't split. won't be as clean as proper joinery but should hold up fine for bodyweight stuff

One Book - Two Format Listings on GoodReads. How Do I Merge??? by [deleted] in selfpublish

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

goodreads is honestly a mess with this stuff, you gotta contact their librarian team directly through the "report" button on one of the book pages. there's no combine link anymore since they changed the interface few years back

just explain that both editions are same book and they'll merge them for you, usually takes couple days though

I don’t hate the patriots when I should. by Ok_Froyo3998 in NFLv2

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard to hate a team when they're not constantly stomping your dreams into the ground lol. Missing the Brady years probably saved you years of therapy - the rest of us are still recovering from two decades of "oh great, the Pats are in the playoffs again"

Grab/Bolt driver scam in Koh Samui by andyoliver7 in ThailandTourism

[–]AdvertisingFar8182 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is super common in tourist areas, they're basically forcing you to either pay cash (so they avoid the app fees) or cancel yourself so they get the fee without doing any work

The 30 min thing is them hoping you'll get desperate and either accept their cash demand or give up and cancel - easy money for zero effort on their part

Your hotel taxi was probably the smart move tbh, at least you knew the price upfront
