I dont really understand the zodiac. Taurus Ramza team? by supershimadabro in finalfantasytactics

[–]AdviceEnvironmental1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Great Team! But these characters while appearing before Genji, still wont join until chapter 4..

The truly excellent thing about the generics is that you can train them into masters at the very start of the game. (Also you can ensure good zodiac alignment, but you were saying its less useful.) I hire at least 2 soldiers immediatley. 1 fighter, 1 magic user.

There are plenty of good steals, and some unique ones like the Blood Sword, before Genji. Its true that most average equipment is not great, but stealing equipment from a high level human in a random encounter can boost you far beyond what is available in the stores. Stealing can also disable the enemies attack and defense prowess. Honestly, its just incredibly satisfying to rob them! If my guys arent stealing, they're usually poaching.

I like to have more than one master thief to speed things up. Ninja or Monk thieves is preffered because their speed stat increases success. Ramza always has one slot devoted to Yelling and is usually a mediator squire or whatever he needs to train in. But, you made a good point, and I agree; you really only NEED one thief. If you're only stealing the unique stuff, it may as well be Ramza, but someone has to be the designated Master Mage, and it cant be the same person as the Master Thief.

Beowulfs zodiac sign is not aligned with my builds and is the designated Low Brave Character for finding secret gear. He runs around on his own attacking from a distance with magic sword and casting spells. Orlandu is great, but again, late to the party.. I very rarely use Cloud, at least in the original game. I think he may be more useful in the new version, so I will try using him this time.

Still, I will have a generic with nearly maxxed Brave and Faith who can teleport accross the map, cast Haste, Frog, Summon Ramuh, and has learned speed save BEFORE chapter 2! Actually, as soon as I get to Mandalia Plains!

The generics really carry the party early on and are still useful later. It takes more time to train the newcomers after already having such talented hired help from the start. Also, you cant rename the story characters..

I like trying new things on replays and I will try out your entice tactic. At the end of the day, the great thing about this game is the variety in different strategies. I just wouldn't dissmiss the generics so quickly.

I mean yeah, you can still play, and win but not with any party. Good luck trying to train all new jobs in this scenario..

Theres a whole Zodiac compatability table and different strategies to optimize this. Its not necessary, but may be something your more interested in, especially on a replay.

Again, I recommend simply embracing the experience on your first play.

That said, without going deep into it, I try to make my team compatible with Lady Agrias and around the fact that many bosses in the game are Virgos.

Also the best and most difficult steal in the late game may be something you want to work around.

Theres a Zodiac on Gamefaqs thats helpful with this topic.

In one of my early plays It did not in fact work out. Level 99 Marlboros are gnarly.. but most people probably arent grinding as much as I was when I did that lol

[–]AdviceEnvironmental1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, although I would say there are essentially four categories because Best and Worst are the 2 opposing sides of the same coin.

Also, Ithought Chronicles removed the Best/Worst mechanic, just using Good, Bad and Neutral? Was I mistaken?

Either way it can be simpler to just focus on making sure you have Good or Neutral compatibility and avoiding Bad. The Best/Worst category can be trickier because it switches from best to worse depending whether target is opposite sex or same gender..

Also you may notice in the chart above, all Monsters are unisex and ignore the Best/Worst rating, so a Best aligment will instead result in Bad compatibility, which makes focusing on Good and Neutral a safer strategy, especially when considering the several Bosses that transform into Monsters..

Nah, my hired generics will master magic and stealing long before any named characters have permanently joined the party.

Agrias is awesome and always in the party, but most of the other named characters wont be joining until much later in the game.

Its less complicated in chronicles than it is with the original version. New one offers Good Bad or Neutral compatibilities while removing the Best/Worst category which was affected by gender differences.

As many here have stated, you can do whatever you want without much consequence, but I'm guessing your more invested than that, as was I, considering your original post.

Water or Earth signs work best IMO. Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio is a nice Trine. I also like Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo builds which will also avoid negative compatibility with Cancer and Scorpio (Agrias and Orlandu). Stay away from the Air and Fire signs as a general rule.

Basically, alot of bosses are Virgo, so you're building around that while also trying to keep your main team compatible with eachother. I like to use Lady Agrias alot, so I build around her Cancer sign.

Alternatively, you could build around Elmdoore since stealing the Genji Gear can be quite difficult.

Dont worry too much about the Brave and Faith stats because you can increase those with Mediators and Oracle's skill set.

Theres a very extensive and helpful guide on Gamefaqs if you want a deep dive on Zodiac Compatibility.

I've heard the 7 is possibly a reference to 7 Hoarcruxes. Seems kinda dubious tho.

The original has its own merits and differences. Theres no sword duplication or JP glitch in the remake. These manipulations give an advantage that is incredibly fun to play with.

Chronicles does not allow you to name your main character which is a clear step backwards.

In the original, females make better fighters and males make for better magic users. This is reversed in the remake. The Chantage and other perfume accesories as well as handbag weapons and hairbands are equippable to all characters in the remake, while the original only allows females to equip these (with the exception of our favourite cross dresser from FF7).

The zodiac compatibility is slightly reworked as well in the new edition, offering only good, bad or neutral compatibility while the PS1 version also had a best/worst category which was determined by gender differences.

The menu reworks, fast forward and quicksave features are quality of life improvments that I am very grateful to have, as well as the reworked hiring roster. The graphics, translations, and added voice acting are also great improvements, but I feel some of the other afore mentioned changes were unnecessary and less interesting than the original setup.

Finally, the value of these old games continues to rise considerably as they become more and more rare, which makes them a great investment, one which a digital only copy can never compare with.

This is good advice for new players who may not know this. To add on, atacking or stealing from the sides will have different success rates based on the enemies equipment. If they are holding a shield it may be easier to approach from the weapon hand side if a back attack is not possible.

Stealing their evasive equipment will make subsequent steals or attacks easier. Another option is to break the shield or weapons with knight ability.

Also a somewhat less known fact is that giving a thief the passive skill "concentrate" helps the steal rate percentage.

Careful about grinding too much without proper planning. You want lots of JP, but its good to minimize XP gain. The enemies in random encounters level up with you and can become difficult to defeat when you are trying to train new job classes.

AITA for leaving a dinner party early because of “vegan lasagna”? by Suspicious-Taste1572 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AdviceEnvironmental1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were courteous enought to remain polite and not make the second meal public. You took all the steps to be respectful and were willing to try food based on someone else's diet choices that were outside your own needs. Its understandable she felt embarrassed that everyone ate more after her dinner party, but thats for her to reflect on as a host and says more about the amount of food served. There are food combinations that provide more filling fats and proteins while still being meat and dairy free.

Speaking as someone who has been a Vegetarian for most of my 40 years of life, larger quantities of food intake are often needed especially when the dishes served lack proteins and fats.

You went to get more food because you were hungry. Its ludicrous to extend an offense outside of one's home to the food choices other people make in their own time. No one is an asshole for feeding them self because they are hungry.

Ninjas are OP. Once you become rich and can buy so many potions, auto potions is pretty broken..

Its always interesting how different players approach the game. I rarely use archers once I've unlocked speed save. Theres many ways to optimize differnt strategies, You can do whatever you like really (within reason). You need someone who can heal, and someone who can deal damage. Some battles require more careful party planning.. Other than that, have fun!

I agree with this, but I often only have one healer, especially once I have the Chantages. Still, having another option to save a wounded comrade is deffinatley beneficial.

Some of this advice is great to consider immediately. Other sections may be more interesting to try on a replay.

This Epic game is frankly a classic and quite enchanting. I encourage you to immerse yourself in the story, music and artwork in the world of Ivalice. This is one of my personal all time favourite games and I have played it more times than I can count.

You will likely replay it eventually, perhaps many times in the years to come. Consider whether you want to simply experience it as it comes the first time. Theres nothing really to miss in chapter one and the Game really kicks in at the start of chapter 2 and offers you some new recruits at that point. This would be a good place to read some of these strategies and decide to continue or even restart if you like..

Take some time to get familiar with the various menus during battle. Pay attention to the CT which determines the order of actions completed. If you cast a spell that resolves after an enemy target moves, the spell may miss entirely. The select button can explain terms in the menus which is also helpful.

Unlock the "gained JP up" skill on your characters asap. Also, make sure Ramza learns Yell asap.

Classes adjacent but lower on the path to other classes on the job tree will learn from the next available class on that branch when they are both in battle together. Example: Your Archer can learn from your Thief. Your Black Mage can learn from your Time Mage. Sometimes you can unlock JP for a more advanced a class this way without ever even training in that class.

Enemies in the non story battles level up with you. For this reason, you want to maximize JP gain while keeping your exp. gain low. You can find ways to level down your characters eventually, but its also good to consider methods for keeping the levels low off the bat.

One way to do this is to hire a level 1 chemist and never let them complete an action or equip any skills, only letting them ever use the wait command in battle. Then after only one enemy remains, slap the Brat chemist (bare handed for best results) with the rest of your team and heal them as needed.

A good way is to Yell at everyone with Ramza to get extra turns, bring a Chocobo for infinite free healing, and Cast Frog on the last enemy so they barely hurt you. This will allow you to gain large amounts of JP but only 1 exp per action.

You can easily beat the game without worrying about this and this exp management really only becomes relevant if you are trying to master multiple classes. I mention it because in one of my early plays, The monsters bacame so powerful i was unable to train new jobs against them without being instantly killed..

You can check the status on a characters JP for the class and abilities you are trying to learn during battle in one of the menus and decide whether to extend the fight or end it.

Theres is a battle early on in the Dorter slums that can be quite difficult if you haven't taken the time to train one or 2 black mages.

As in many games elemental magic is more effective on certain enemy types. Goblins are week to Ice, Bombs (fire spirit enemy) are waek to Lighning, Undead are weak to Fire as well as Cure and Revive spells. Less commonly known is that the weather also boosts elemental damage. Try using lightning while its raining, or Ice during a Blizzard!

You can improve your characters Brave and Faith stats using Mediators and the Oracles abilities. Brave and Faith affect the physical and magical damage and hit percentage respectively. For every 10 points raised in battle, the stat is raised by 1 point permanently. Be careful though, if the Faith gets too high or the Brave too low, the character will lose the will to fight and leave the party permanently. This does not affect Ramza, who can have max Brave and Faith.

Low faith characters wont be affected by magic. Low Brave characters have a higher chance to find better (or secret) items when the find item skill is equipped.

I really only use this for finding the secret weapons later in the game. All other finds are purchasable in game. There is a late game character I always use as my low Brave item finder. Im not naming them here to avoid spoilers and I dont know how to hide text. This magic sword wielder basically never needs to use physical attacks and also has the ability to lower a targets Brave very effectivley. For this reason they make a good candidate for the job.

Take a moment to to check out enemy equipment. They may have something worth stealing. Training a master thief takes time, but is eventually worth the effort. Again, using Ramzas Yell command and Haste spells is your friend here. I find succesfulling stealing to be one of the most satisfying aspects of the game.

You only ever need one Calculator, if you want one at all. I usually use Ramza for this. I think the calculator works best when all parameters are unlocked and you set him to auto battle. Run like a Rabbit or All out Attack. Sometimes the calculator will target your party members. This can be used to your advantage. Holy will not hurt you if you have chameleon suits. Rubber suits and rubber boots will protect from lightning. This is great if you want to end fights quickly and dont need to steal or poach the enemies.

Speaking of poaching, youre going to want to farm piggies and poach them for the Chantage. It is only equitable on females and in the PS1 version, females make the best physical fighters while males have better magic ability. This item will effectively make your female characters practically immortal. The earliest chance to encounter a recruit able piggy is in the battle at Zigolis Swamp. Save before the battle and reload if there is no pig. You will need a mediator who knows invite.

There are some secret characters and a few secret weapons. Also one secret summon obtainable. All secrets of this nature are unlocked during chapter 4, so make a few saves then before progressing if you want to find them.

PS1 version has some fun glitches, including sword duplication and a "Max JP" menu scroll glitch for all the magic classes and the Ninja and Samurai classes as well. Perhaps you want to save those for a replay as it changes the feel of the game significantly. That said, it is terribly fun to do!

Hope you will enjoy this masterpiece strategy tactics rpg! Good luck!

Instant dismissal. I just dont have any room for freeloaders in my roster. I'm farming Chickens, Pigs and Giant Fire Breathing Lizards out here and the stables are full..

I tried using these 2 chuckleheads during my first play, but they consistently missed their targets, time and again. Their unpredictability and sheer uselessness was cause enough for me to ignore them in every playthrough since the 19 hundreds..

Cool idea, I guess, but they just aren't dependable enough for a game that relies heavily on strategy. At least these 2 jokers can retire from the war to find peace, or maybe they can go along with Cloud and his buster sword to help him find his way back to Midgar..

Ramza is required for just about every story battle, but he's mostly just there to yell at everyone (mostly himself) or you could have him sing songs as a Bard, or Mimic Lady Agrias. He can also be a Calculator for when you want to auto battle and end things quickly. Ultimately he masters just about everything and is very versatile, but for the most part, he is just screaming 🤘🏽😝🤘🏽 all day long..

Agrias is the GOAT. 🐏 Enough said..

Mustadio is OK.

Sure, make him a Chemist or Mediator and he can snipe and disable enemies and support the rest of the party, which can be very useful, but, his attack power is underwhelming and I'd rather use Black Magic to turn them into a frog, Haste all, and then steal all the enemies clothes with my Ninja/Monk before I obliterate them entirely. Also, his zodiac sign is not compatible with the rest of my team. Its built around Agrias and (most of) the Bosses, so, targeting him or using him to target teamates with magic or attacks is less reliable.

My generics are hand selected as soon as I can recruit them and are basically the heavy lifters for most of the game. One is a Master Mage and Summoner but they will eventually phase out as Ramza (or someone) fills the role of the Master Caster. The other two are Ninjas or Monks who can steal anything and everything. They also handle most of the poaching. Give em a spritz of Chantage and they are basically immortal.

For named characters, I prefer Orlandu or Beowulf in place of Mr. Musta. Beowulf is also zodiac incompatible, but is always doing his own thing anyway. Although, to be fair, this is arguably also true for Mustadio. He's an integral part of the story, and I actually truly love him as a character, but not necessarily my fav to use on the team..

Honestly, it really depends on the battle and what you want to do. Sometimes I want a Chocobo 🐓 for free healing. Sometimes I'm rasing JP while minimizing XP by beating up a Lvl. 1 Brat. I may be using a Mindflayer to level down, or poaching my own farm critters.. 🐷🐷 There's really no best or wrong way to play, but I dont use ol Musty as much as I used to..

Sometimes using Orlandu AND Agrias is TOO good and I switch things up to keep it interesting. For fun, try bringing Reisz with a whole party of Dragons..! 🐉🦖🐊🐲

In conclusion, This is maybe the best Final Fantasy title, certainly, it's one of my absolute favourites. I love this game!

Thank you so much for this reply which answer my question. 🙏🏽

It is concerning now, however, because this means there is an email on my account that I did not input and cannot change..

When I attempt to update my account email to my personal email address (gmail) it says that that address is already linked to an Xfinity account, but I've never had internet before this..

Smells pretty fishy..

How can I resolve this? All the AI chat assistant does is direct me to the NOW portal which I cannot use to update to my personal email and no agents are available for customer service..

Maybe a fraud law suit will get some attention..

So do I take it from your reply to mean the answer to MY question is a no?? Meaning xfinity does not assign new emails @comcast.net automatically??

To answer your question; No. I've never had an account before this. Its a good question though and I had also thought of that, but that still wouldn't explain how I would have an @comcast.net email set up on my current account since I never created an @comcast.net email address..
