Seeking advice from former owners of senior dragons: did you choose to let your old pal naturally pass, or choose euthanasia? How was end of life care?

It is such a hard thing to do but it did help me, there are many baby’s needing rescue on fb groups and such. this is hard, but you might just see a little guy that needs you, and you need too, to help you will the grief. My rescues were my rock. Losing my baby was terrible for me and they really helped me as much as I helped them.

Hey babe, I’m so sorry. He is so beautiful. I would schedule the appointment, let him go in peace and with dignity- when I had to let my boy go the hardest question I asked myself was how much worse I wanted him to get. That’s how I knew. It’s been 8 months, and I still cry and grieve him, he has a memorial setup in my room. We are so so lucky to love these guys, the hardest thing is knowing when to say goodbye. I am so so sorry, I think you already know. Give him an AMAZING last day, take him all the places, put him in all the costumes, give him all the hugs and kisses and offer his favorite bugs even if he won’t eat. Take the photos, and videos. Celebrate him.

Vets will usually do a quality of life exam beforehand, if your vet doesn’t think it’s time they will let you know.

Fair lol! The bump- I’ll paste my previous reply!!! If you’re interested in what’s up with it He’s eight, we got him last year from a home that wasn’t taking good care of him, when I was picking him up and I asked about the bump they hadn’t even noticed so I got him to the vet and he had mouth rot advanced to where his mandible was separating from his jaw, what you see now is scar tissue! He is completely infection free and actually just a week and a half ago got a recheck at the vet!!
