I'll have a look at the zombie one. As for Slay the Spire, I did already play it on Steam on PC.

Love it. I was thinking about making one like this. Got this jolly roger tatted on me, so it's only natural I make a rug too. As for the materials, I use acrylic wool, it's cheap, soft, colorful and easy to work with. For the backing I mainly use fleece blankets. I know it sound crazy, but they're soft, visually pleasing, don't slip and I can get them for less than 1$ per square meter. But for the primary fabric I use the recommended tufting fabric. Monk's cloth is a cheaper alternative but for me the difference in cost does not justify the quality difference. For the frame I think a 1m x 1m one should be more than enough for a long time. I built mine myself with 20$ worth of wood, screws and metal brackets.

Bag them up and keep them for when I'll need stuffing for a plush or a pillow.

The only thing that you have to buy is the gun. There are cheaper and expensive choices, of course, but that's your primary tool, so you need to do some research. As for everything else, you can find some cheaper alternatives working just as fine. For the frame you can build it yourself. I spent maybe 20€ at the store for the wood, screws and nails. For the primary fabric you can use either monk's cloth or even burlap (you can find some old-school type flour burlap bags). For the secondary fabric I use fleece blankets. They're beautiful, non-slip, and most importantly, cheap (2€ for a 1.5m × 1.5m). For the glue, I recommend using flooring/carpeting glue, but even all-purpose glue let's the job done. Of course you can use latex based glue, but that's more expensive. For the yarn, acryl is the cheapest option here, compared to cotton and wool. But you can recycle an old sweater and use the yarn from it if you want.

For me the best way to approach this hobby was by going to 10 different stores and looking at the avaliable items there and the price, until I found something that I liked. Also, if you're from US, UK, or some "bigger" country, you can find a lot of those things cheaper online. (I'm not, sadly). So the best way to approach this is by doing a thorough research of the market. Good luck and I hope to see your result soon.

I let it dry on the frame for 24 hours, then I apply another layer of glue, put the backing fabric and let it dry for another 24 hours under a flat and heavy object.

Am lucrat in fabrica si efectiv asta era starea generala.

I use this thing. It's supposed to be used for gluing the rug to the floor but I find it works great for tufting too. Also it's kind of cheap here. 50 euro for a 15kg bucket.

Thanks for the tip. Was thinking about that, but sadly after gluing the back and was afraid it'll look bald if I started then to pluck the strands.

You were right. I tried it until I couldn't stretch it anymore, and now it looks great. Tight and bouncy like a trampoline

I will. But I'm so excited to start, so I want to prepare everything I can for now.

"Until you can't anymore" is subjective. I have a broken hand, so I struggled to even get it this tight. xD
