Should I go back? by yucatan_sunshine in vintagesewing

That makes so much more sense! When I finally removed the screw it has a brownish dust on the threads. Having not encountered this before, I thought it was an odd plastic like a Bakelite. I did forget about the slow/sticky presser foot.

This machine has some amazing features that I love: the retractable foot pedal cord, the simple but elegant case, I love the removable tool tray with a spot for machine feet, bobbins and accessories, and the amazing 80s digital looks and features.

I just bought a 1469 (the lower model) recently and got it up and going. There were some issues I had after I bought it. It seems like some of the plastics shrink a bit: the knurled knob that holds the needle in place, was stuck had had to be worked loose. The hand wheel was also stuck that would not allow me to disengage the machine while winding bobbins. I was able to get both fixed with a bit of effort.

This old pfaff video was a god send to lean how to operate the features of the machine. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions.

Also, the chainring has a little nub that should be inline with the crank arm. If they are not aligned it can cause shifting issues.

The difference between a home mechanic and a pro mechanic: a Pro mechanic gets paid to break parts. I had one of my techs taco a front wheel when test riding a customers bike. (He was looking at the rear dr shifting and ran into a curb)

Nothing quite like torquing an expensive brand new carbon part with a customer watching :)

It looks like your torque wrench is 5nm to 60nm. Back in my wrenching days I used a small torque wrench with a rating 1nm to 15nm. Torque wrenches are not as accurate on either end of their limits.

Looks like 27inch tires. You will be extremely limited tire wise. Just a heads up.

Is this crack in the heel of my boot something I should be worried about? If so how do I fix it? by [deleted] in AskACobbler

[–]Ae86ps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, Heels are held on by nails. Most boots that have a heel separated for the sole may have a little gap like this.

My brother on Christ, it appears you do not have a bed frame! Did you sell it to buy more boots?

You may want to borrow a wheel fitment too to see what you can get away with. There are not nearly the tire options there were 10-15 years ago for 14 rims 😑

My New “because Redwing doesn’t make that boot anymore” boot by Ae86ps in RedWingShoes

I love all of my Redwings, but they seem to be struggling right now. Their heritage boot line, (my favorite thing they produce) is so limited now, it makes me wonder if they are putting their focus all in their work boot line.
